'Arrow' Episode 1.03 "Lone Gunmen" Discussion

@RedheadedAtrocitus: I totally agree. I love the show, and watching the future Black Canary kick butt was awesome.

There is nothing really wrong with Arrow. It's more than a competent show. But it suffers from the same problem all CW programs suffer from. Every character is TO DAMN PRETTY!!! If CW did A Batman show Batman would look like George Clooney and the Joker? God....I don't even want to think about it.

They're good-looking somewhat. I don't really find anyone other than Tommy and Ollie to look attractive. Dinah is pretty meh, and the whole cast is kind of mediocre But remember: These are rich people, rich people go out of their way to look good, so it still works

Did anyone laugh at the hit sound effects during Deadshot and Green Arrow's brief melee?  They seemed way too cartoony and fake, so it kind of ruined the moment for me.

so far this show is very good

Deadshot was...sucky lol.Zero personality,Zsasz like behaviour and terrible aim(for Deadshot). Decent show and episode otherwise.@HexThis said:

It feels too much like a soap opera sometimes, Speedy's rebelliousness is really unconvincing and Laurel's determination seems so contrived, and Oliver is super handsome but even in the voiceovers are really not where they should be...which is really saying something. I mean, CW, get a fricken clue and hire some stage actors or something - they're dirt cheap and 10 times as talented.

At this point they've got to stick with Sam Amell but Katie Cassidy is killing me in the worst way. Why exactly is she a lawyer anyways? If anything, Dinah Lance has always been a bigger character than Oliver and really formidable (perhaps even moreso than Oliver) but here she's just pathetic.

I dunno,BC has never had ongoings that lasted as long GA's.But yeah she is more formidable just not a bigger character by herself.

I've got more confused with sound effect in the garage scene, where Ollie took the gun from a mobster. Was it glued or something? It was horrible. Bones do not crack like that... The only time I heard something like this was on Mythbusters "Unarmed&Unharmed" episode, and there it was a sticky hand simulcarum holding a gun.

PS. If Deadshot turns out to be alive, he's SO becoming a butt of all Skyrim jokes. "I was a respectable assassin, but then I took an arrow in the eye..."

Diggle looked like an average joe.

Quentin Lance looked like an average joe.

Tommy Meryln is just slightly above average.

Yao Fei looks like an average joe

Costantine Drakon looks like an average joe

Chyna White looks like an average joe.

Black Canary is just above average

The only people that are too pretty is Oliver and his sister, but Stephen Amell is just a master piece and a great fit for the role.

Deadshot do look a little too pretty for deadshot, but theres nothing wrong with that also.

Even Felicity Smoak don't exactly look hot either.

Deadshot dies in every TV appearance he has, this did not surprise me.

Im not at all shocked that Laurel is battle savy. Its been 5 years after all and im betting when she does become BLACK CANARY, they will show what she did (and learned) in that 5yr gap.

Ollie's sister is a bit annoying though and I want her to get herself together.

I was expecting the show to have a lot more Deadshot in it.

It's really out of control, you're right.

It's not even like I have something against pretty people personally but you start to get the sense that the only pre-requisite to be on a CW show is looking a certain "type" of beautiful, a glossy & unrealistic sort. It's not just they're pretty but everyone is made up and primped to be so pristine it just stops feeling real.

Like when he goes in to speak to the IT chick? She's the hottest, most beautiful IT girl I've ever seen and yet she's stumbling through her conversation like she's so insecure when meeting Oliver. Are we supposed to really believe that? The only effort they made with her was to give her glasses. It's just hoakey and stupid.

And Dinah's father looks more like he could be her sugar daddy, there's no paternal vibe about their chemistry! Hahaha.

@HexThis: That was absolutely the word I was looking for "Glossy" I was having this whole discussion with another user. He was saying that I have something against pretty people in television. I honestly don't but for a show that has every producer working on it calling Arrow a gritty and down to earth show and comparing it to Nolan's Batman films is a freaking joke. I'm glad somebody else see's that and recognizes how the whole sexy IT girl wearing glasses is just plain dumb. Seriously I thought she was about to take her glasses off shake her hair in slow motion and put a lolly pop in her mouth, lol.

I am havng a problem with the villains in this show. First Drakon taken out without much of a fight, then China White and now Deadshot. These should have been Green Arrows biggest fight scenes but they go down too quickly.

Really good episode. After reading all the comments about Deadshot's eyepiece, it really doesn't look so bad live. Plus: BIG BELLY BURGER!!! BWA-HA-HAA!!!

Well, good thing he's coming back!
