AfterShock Comics Celebrates One Year Anniversary With Two Sell-Out Comics

Both BLACK-EYED KIDS #1 and ROUGH RIDERS #1

As AfterShock Comics celebrates their one year anniversary, the new publisher has sold out it's inital order day-of-release of both ROUGH RIDERS #1 from Adam Glass and Pat Olliffe, and BLACK-EYED KIDS #1 from Joe Pruett and Syzmon Kudraski. This is a first for AfterShock Comics and comes on the heals of SUPERZERO #1 from Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti, and INSEXTS #1 from Marguerite Bennett and Ariela Kristantina going into a reprint. Both are great accomplishments for any publisher. "You're only as good as the team you have around you," exclaimed Adam Glass. "Special thanks to my Rough Riders; Pat Olliffe, Gabe Eltaeb, Sal Cipriano and AfterShock Comics. And to all the fans who are taking the ride with us."

Joe Pruett had this to say: "We have just celebrated our one year anniversary as a new comic book publisher and having this book sell out day of release is one heck of an AfterShock birthday present."

Jack Johnson — an undefeated brawler and the son of ex-slaves, determined to get his shot at the heavyweight championship… When a terrifying alien technology destroys the USS Maine, these unlikely allies set sail for bloody Cuba, into the heart of a brewing conflict, to wage a shadow war against the greatest threat mankind has ever known. Before they were famous, they were… ROUGH RIDERS.

Eisner Award winner JOE PRUETT (X-Men Unlimited, Cable) is joined by artist SZYMON KUDRANSKI (Spawn) for this terrifying new horror series.

I've not read any of Aftershock's releases. Would like to pick up Second Sight, American Monster and Replica.

Bought both of these because they both seemed interesting and because they were only $2 for the first issue. Rough Riders was good and it seems the first arc will be about building the team. BEK was okay but it didn't give us any idea of what it's about. I'll buy each book next month but once it jumps to $4 it has to entertain me more.

Really need to read some stuff from AfterShock Comics. SuperZero and Captain Kid look interesting but I'm always super hesitant on $3.99 comics.

Lol, I love how Pat Olliffe used Nerf Guns as a reference. I can't place all of them but I do own the small one. I've always thought Nerf Guns make the best cartoon guns ever.

Rough Riders is one of the new books I'm most excited about on my pull list. I wasn't even expecting to be interested at all and decided to grab it off the shelf on release day. Now it's added to my list and I'm stoked.
