Some really cool news for AFTERLIFE WITH ARCHIE fans. On July 23rd, a new edition of Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide, published by Gemstone, will be released featuring the artwork of Francesco Francavilla based on the world of AFTERLIFE WITH ARCHIE.
This will be the #44 for Overstreet, which is a go-to source for pricing comics.
Produced as a limited edition for comic book dealers, serious collectors and historians, The Big, Big Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide is an oversized, spiral-bound version of The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide that includes only the pricing sections and the lists of top comics. In other words, it has no ads and no articles, nothing but copious amounts of pricing and other data.
Many legendary artists have had their art on Overstreet, including Joe Kubert, Will Eisner, Alex Ross, George Pérez, Darwyn Cooke, Walter Simonson, Amanda Conner, Joe Jusko, Adam Hughes, Mike Deodato, and Andy Kubert. Now Francavilla can be added to that list.
This is the third time Archie characters have been featured on the cover of the guide. Katy Keene was on #14 and Archie, Betty, and Veronica were featured on #32.
Putting Afterlife with Archie on the cover of this edition isn’t the first love Gemstone Publishing has show the series. Their Scoop email newsletter said of Afterlife with Archie, “In a industry rife with proclamations of ‘must read’ status, Afterlife With Archie is without a doubt on our ‘must read’ list each and every month.” Scoop also said, “How can you successfully blend zombies with the Riverdale gang? Writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and artist Francesco Francavilla apparently know the answer and succeed in walking that fine line that doesn’t violate the spirit of either genre as they merge them in this new series.”
