Jedi Master Arca Jeth trained Ulic and Cay Qel-Droma, as well as Tott Doneeta at his praxeum on his home planet of Arcania. He sent them on a mission to the planet Onderon to resolve a centuries old conflict between the citizens of the city of Iziz and the Beast Riders who lived in the jungles outside the city. Eventually he had to intervene and come to the aid of his students after it was revealed that the Queen and King of Onderon were users of the Dark Side of the Force. Together with his students, he discovered that the ancient Sith Dark Jedi Freedon Nadd crashed on the planet and passed on his Sith teachings.

The rise of the dual threats of the Krath and Exar Kun led to a Jedi conclave being called on the planet Deneba. During the conclave, the Krath attacked and Master Jeth was killed. His death was the turning point at which Ulic planned his attack on the dark side, which would ultimately lead to Ulic's fall to the Dark Side and the Great Sith War.

Years after the end of the Great Sith War, during Ulic's self-imposed exile, Ulic had a vision of Arca Jeth on the planet Rhen Var. Even though Ulic was powerless, he was insipired by the memory of his old master and started training Nomi Sunrider's daughter Vima to be a Jedi and would eventually find redemption.
