Ortiz in 1994 as part of Savage Dragon's "Ultimate Character Creating Contest". Araknis ended up as a runner-up as seen in Savage Dragon #10. However, the creator went ahead and gave Araknis his own comic book mini-series a year later for Mushroom Comics.
