Aquaman may have been absent in Justice League: War, but it looks like he'll be hogging the spotlight an upcoming DC animated movie! Based on Geoff Johns' event, Throne of Atlantis, the animated film will follow Atlantis as it's locked in a conflict with the surface world. Seeing as the movie is introducing Arthur Curry, a.k.a. Aquaman, into the new animated movie universe, it'll also reveal how a young Aquaman discovers his aquatic roots.
Supervising producer James Tucker shared some extra details about the story."He's a little bit lost. His father has died and he's always been an outsider, so the one person who had his back is now gone. When that Atlanteans instigate incidents to escalate a war with the surface world, he doesn't yet know who he is. As he discovers his true history he's going to have a lot of choices to make. It's definitely about him finding his own path."
Aquaman will be voiced by Matt Lanter, the voice of Anakin Skywalker on Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Since Justice League: Throne of Atlantis takes place in the same timeline as Justice League: War, Batman (Jason O'Mara), Cyborg (Shemar Moore), the Flash (Christopher Gorham), Shazam (Sean Astin), Green Lantern (Nathan Fillion), Wonder Woman (Rosario Dawson), and Superman (Jerry O'Connell) will return. Joining them will be Orm (Sam Witwer) and Mera (Sumalee Montano). The characters are designed by Phil Bourassa and he says Aqauman's look is inspired by Jim Lee'sNew 52 design for the hero.
