Envoy of Poseidon

Seriously, I'm gonna miss it. Not that I don't like the classic Gold and Green, but I did prefer the Envoy of Poseidon look he's had for the past few issues. I'm at least glad it looks like he's keeping the trident, though.

Anyone think we'll get to see it again, down the line?

The costume was pretty Greco-Roman looking atleast from the torso. It wasnt bad but I wont miss it probably because of how it was often drawn and I didn't like the color of the armor and Herculean looking belt. Given the solicit for Aquaman #49 we might get a flashback but I doubt will ever see him put the suit on again.

There were some other designs I wish the artist went with that looks pretty cool.

Is he really even keeping the trident I feel like its just a different Artist interpretation of his trident. Looking at Origins his trident has been drawn different in flashbacks and in the cover for 50 its missing the blue gem while 49 hes holding the old one. I do hope he keeps it though.

They should let Mera keep the old trident it could be like a Aqua-proposal.

@ecstaticgrace: I mean, I would probably change the color scheme a little more, because the top and bottom didn't match which did bother me.

But I'm curious, which one of those designs were you actually talking about? The fourth and fifth work well for me, but I'd still say his EoP look is better.

And It looks closer to the EoP version than the Trident of Neptune he used to have. I mean, if I see three prongs I'm not associating it with his old trident. I'd have to see five and not seeing five and having them not be their and them saying it's the old trident is just weird. Now, if they say it's a new trident for a new age of his rule, that I'm fine with.

His trident has been so inconsistent since the reboot making some think hes had multiple but before this current arc its been the same trident that by artist interpretation has been either three or five prongs. I think Ironically when Mera was using it in Blackest Night it would change with artist depiction as well.

He could be keeping the trident though Booth posted a image of Aquaman and Mera and its rumored Mera will become "Aquawoman" (Hope noone calls her that..) and she's wearing the A on a tiara/crown type thing.

I agree with your choice in the 4 or 5 costumes I think it would of been ideal for the arc considering hes on the run and it woukd of been a cool nod to Aquamoa. The number 2 suit is ideal for me though I like the top but the bottom could be worked on maybe gold boots and the pants on his Poseidon envoy armor.

@ecstaticgrace: Well that's just silly. The trident is one of Aquaman's signatures. That should be uniform across the board. How DC let it slide that it could be drawn two totally different ways is beyond me. That's like drawing Superman's crest with five sides in Action Comics and three in Superman.

But, a part of me really just wants him to have the Trident of Poseidon because it has 3 and not 5 prongs. That was a bit of an annoyance to me with his original trident. Even if the shorter two were just for aesthetics.

And I'll be surprised if she does go by Aquawoman. She made a point of correcting people who called her that early in the reboot.

I think your ideas with the second suit would make it a lot better. As it is, it looks just too much like his old outfit, but change up the bottom, I think it works.

@scouterv: If they wanted they could always maybe give some explanation to why it appears it different maybe attack variation its shifted between or something but yeah its a bit ridiculous how often its drawn different.

I wish the costumes that were used got inspiration from the classics but was a modernization with classic colors. Mainly looking at Wonder Woman and Aquaman saying that I like their classic suits but going into the reboot there suits didn't really variate. I like Fabok's Wonder Woman design and Jim Lee's Crustacean Armor concept for Arthur that looks similar to two.

@ecstaticgrace: If they at least gave a reason it changed, I could take that, but maybr make one for combat and the other more magic-based.

As for the costumes, I personally kind of like how Wonder Woman's changes at least somewhat often. The armor she wore to fight Hell was pretty awesome. I've not seen the armored Aquaman design though. In fact, I never really had a problem with Aquaman's look. I thought it came off as a bit gauche, but not bad. However, I do think because of the basic design, he could be open to a lot more in terms of redesign. Sort of like Green Arrow.

5 prongs mode for combat 3 for magic sounds great.

Anyways these are Jim Lee design for unused Aquaman some are other artist just drawing in them.

Perfect combo, crustacean giving a new look while incorporating the classic scales and the pants though still simple dont look bland. Trident ironically looks similar to the new one just with a red gem

@ecstaticgrace: I like it. Maybe change up the shoulder pads and make them jut like fins a bit and some small gold highlights on the pants, but otherwise I like it. Though, I think a lot of people were burned out on armor at the time. I liked all the new looks though.

@scouterv: Arent the scales considered armor?

I like the gold highlight idea it could connect to the belt design wise like in Flashpoint

It might be the design changed or the Poseidon trident based on this.

Anybody else think that they will change Arthur's trident in Rise of the Seven Kingdom?

@vinomonster: I feel like they might just do something with the old one which is suppose to be the most powerful.
