The reptilian mutant known as Anole was a student at the Xavier Institute. Openly gay and leader of the Alpha Squadron, he was recently promoted to the New X-Men squad before it was disbanded and is currently a member of the Young X-Men. He is currently enrolled at the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning.
Anyone else get ticked off at the way Anole was portrayed in Nation X #3? I think they've done a lot with Anole and I'm really glad they didn't kill him off like they had planned, but Big Boy Pants read like a small child's story with the moral being "don't be a brat" and they made him look like a little sh!£. Anole had never been a bratty character and I really dislike the whole thing.
Nation X in general feels like a child's story. And I was like "WHAT?!" when Anole comes back after being starved in the desert and was just like "Hey, it's okay. I learned a lesson!"
I don't care what good came out of it. I'd be pounding the guy that sent me there!
I know! Usually, I like the short story collections, but most Nation X just was too dumb. I'm in compleat agreement with you. And we know Anole isn't afraid of Illyana, because he was ready to do just that in the first issue of the third New Mutants.
Anole has always been portrayed as intelligent, calm, and intuitive. Nation X made no sense. Period. He's always been the one with his head on straight and staying calm under duress.

That's how I've always seen him. The only time he was ever imature was when Northstar died and that was because his mentor had just been killed.
