Anna is a stillborn Water Elemental, who is unaware of her true being. She becomes a writer of many different comic books, but the only project she really cares about is her unfinished collection of short stories set in alternate universes that are all set in locations descending the Mississippi River. She convinces Swamp Thing to help her to finish these stories saying that he could be the missing piece to make the book complete. After she takes Swamp Thing through the alternate universes described in her book, she discovers at the end is the story of her meeting up with the Parliament of the Waves and discovering her true nature. She asks Swamp Thing to take her place and is set to rest by the Parliament of Waves.
