As a happy-go-lucky hero and devoted family man, Buddy Baker can mimic the powers of any animal on Earth and beyond. His powers come from a connection with the morphogenetic field of Earth, also known as the Life Web or the Red.
Exciting to see that Buddy will be a part of the Flashpoint event, and the obscure characters won't get outright ignored in this. Looking forward to what they do with him, and if he's changed the way everyone else is during Flashpoint. Everything seems that bit darker, that bit harder around the edges. Will a lack of Superman and Flash really do that to the world? Buddy has a much more militant looking costume by the looks of it as well, and Plas doesn't exactly look friendly there. Is this really what an alternate world of DC is...just a darker version of now? I hope there's more too it than that.
It looks pretty cool to see Animal Man again. I have seen him since the Congorilla and Starman crossover to the JLA series. I hope in years to comes he will be part of the JLA and have his own comic spin off series again that wood be cool to see.
There's a great interview showing what the plans are for Buddy in Flashpoint. Apparently he's been imprisoned for something he didn't do, and has to join forces with some of the bad guys inside the prison to prevent being killed. Sounds like a very different take on the character.
