    Ancient Vampires...AWAKENED!

American Vampire: Survival of the Fittest #4 of 5.

In this issue we finally get to seem some real struggle for survival. I noticed that in all the previous issues, we never really got to see the characters fight the vampires. This issue really gives off the theme of survival. Ok so a lot of stuff happened in this issue! So continuing from last issue Dr. Pavel reveals that those giant statues of vampires are there tickets out of there. Of course Felicia thinks he's crazy and so does Cash. Dr. Pavel explains he's been researching them and looking for them for along time. He says they're the cure to vampirism because of their ancient blood. What comes next you might gather? The Nazi vampires catch them and hold each of them captive. Felicia and Cash have bit of a heart to heart. Soon what looks to be another Nazi human reveals himself to be the agent that was going to help them on this mission. He gives them each those guns that can kill vampires and they start killing the 77th Brigade. Although shortly after the agent gets decapitated by a vampire. Cash and Felicia see a way out and Pavel urges them to go without him. He sacrifices himself and a lot of vampires along the way. Felicia and Cash are stopped on their exit but they might be saved because the statue vampires have awakened!

    The GOOD!

Like I said before this issue evinced survival perfectly. I liked that there was so much going on in this issue that there weren't any boring parts. I loved reading about Dr. Pavel's research and what he was really doing. What I also loved was his sacrifice. He gave them the cure before he died but that was his way of keeping his legend and work alive. I thought that was really great. This issue definitely has me excited for the final one! I love Snyder's writing, his style, and his work! I love this mini series and I am sad to see it go soon! Hopefully we'll get to see Cash and Felicia in the regular American Vampire as well.

Art: Sean Murphy's art is absolutely awesome. The drama within his penciling is just too good. He also draws great tension and suspense within the characters faces and the backgrounds. I love his work and maybe he'll be a co-artist on the regular American Vampire some day.

    The BAD!

I didn't feel there was anything bad to this issue.

    The VERDICT!

This issue was awesome! It was high paced and captured the true essence of survival. I definitely say pick it up! 5 out of 5!!!

The exciting lives of human statues 0

American Vampire has the feeling of being set under a veil that covers our real world -- situations are only just slightly off, to the point where you can almost believe in them. Which is how horror scares young children, making them wary of the world outside the story.Survival of the Fittest #4 starts with one of these horror ideas, which feels as ancient as the vampire myth: statues are sleeping monsters. It's mixed with a dash of pseudo-science and hints of the history of this race of vampire...
