    Ambush!

    American Vampire #15

I am so excited that American Vampire has been nominated for an Eisner award!!! What a prestige honor! I hope this series wins it because it's fantastic, original, awesome, and hard to compare to! Okay so on to the story then shall we??? The soldiers are still on the island of Taipan and things are looking really, really bad as hordes of this new form of vampire attacks as a full on ambush. Skinner is badly wounded, and this Japanese woman pops out from a secret floor door and urges them to get in and so they do. Meanwhile Pearl is on a plane to Taipan to serve as a nurse for the troops. As the soldiers are in this hideout with an entire village they converse with a bilingual villager that understands them. They both give their views on what's happening and they learn about "The Bad Place". Well it seems just as the soldiers leave the hideout they run into a Japanese Militant leader that has them sent off to what looks like the bad place.

    The GOOD!

This is a series that I love! And what I love about this series is that it's mainly consistent with certain things. For instance like how good the story and art are for each month. I liked the progression of the story in this issue. There were some pretty cool concepts I loved such as Pearl going to be a nurse, which shows the gaining power of women for this time period. Skinner being hurt when his kind of vampire doesn't get hurt. And the ending was cool so I'm excited to see that. It kind of reminds me of the film The Deer Hunter when the guys were taken to that like torture camp where they played Russian Roulette. AHH whatever?

Art: Albuquerque's art is divine. I love how he draws and it's consistent how draws. He draws with drama and it's easy to see that. The way the scenery look depicts what's going on with the characters and I love that. I loved the way the plane looked taking off also. The cover was awesome. This arc has a reocurring theme of the rising sun in the back ground and the story's main focus as the cover. I love how Pear looked on the cover!

    The BAD!

For me the only bad thing was this issue felt a little slow. I mean there was a lot of talking in the hideout and everything and it just made me wonder how these soldier's know so much about these vampires. I mean they were using really big words too so that through me off.

    Verdict!

On an ending note I loved this issue! I definitely say pick it up! 5 out of 5!

Hank and the boys have found the vamps they've come to the Island to exterminate, actually it'd be more apt to say they've found them. The GoodI've been loving these "Rising Sun" covers for this arc. This one is especially intriguing considering the action Pearl takes this issue. This issue starts off with a bang as Henry and the boys fight and run for their lives. They're easily outnumbered by this unknown, feral breed of vamp and you feel every bit as desperate and adrenaline addled as they do...
