A decent story...

I'll be honest, I'm not familiar with Alpha Flight. I know little bits and pieces of their history, but mostly, this is my first foray into the team. I picked this book up for two reasons, Fred Van Lente and Greg Pak. I will give anything the write a shot. That said, this issue was not a disappointment. There was a little too much "politics" talk, but I'm willing to give that a pass, as the action it drove was more than adequate. All the characters seemed likeable enough, even if Northstar did come off as a bit whiny to me. Also, someone who knows better than me, what was the deal with...I suppose itw as Marrina's(?) freak out near the end? Vindicator and Guardian are a little bland, but the rest of the cast more than picks up that slack. I also love it anytime a member of the Purple family of villains shows up, because they always entertain me. The art by Ben Oliver was awesome. I'm sold on at least giving a regular Alpha Flight series a try ,so I'm glad to see this isn't just a one and done thing. I might like it a little more if I was actually Canadian, and therefore more clued into the politics that they're talking about, but in general, I think the overall "frustration with the government" theme translates well enough without much more elaboration, and I can't wait to see where that angle goes. All in all, I'd recommend this for a pickup, at least to see whether or not you'd be interested in the regular series.

New readers will have a decent understanding of the team and their powers. I was pretty excited to see this team again, even though they're technically not officially a team yet.Aside from being excited, mainly for Sasquatch, Snowbird, and Shaman, for the characters coming back fro...

    Alpha Flight 0.1 Review 0

I've always wanted to read Alpha Flight. It's not that any of the characters were particularly cool or eye-catching, it's not that I love Canada, and it's not that I had heard good things. In fact, none of these applied. I just always enjoyed the idea of diversity in comics. I liked that Marvel didn't forget about other countries and remembered to give our neighbors a team of their own. Only problem is, I'm kind of too young to have gotten any real Alpha Flight comics. Sure, it was around when I...
