Dark Wings Beating In Both Corners of My Eyes

Even in Gotham, Jonah Hex can blaze new territory every issue. From bar fights and shootouts to underground rivers and now giant prehistoric bats. Although unfortunately the actually bat battle is a little short, this issue is comprised mostly of a fairly rushed conclusion to this underground expedition tale. It's not as cut short as the first arc, but it leads into the next one with a little more finesse.

We do get to see more of the Gotham history fleshed out, Alan and Catherine Wayne's place in the city connects with the bits of history we know, and there's some veeeery interesting implications implied an intriguing connection to Thurston Moody's dark secrets. There's a lot of great twists littering this finale, and the same can be said the the Barbary Ghost portion.

The rest of the temporary characters for this arc provide a nice set of roles that lead into an epic conclusion on the fighting front, and a heartwarming one on the other end.

    In Conclusion: 4/5

While there are different artists for each story, both fit the times and the feel intended for this western book. I have to admit that some of the art for the Jonah Hex story is really starting to distract me, but I shouldn't complai...
