Won't Be Invading My Pull List
For a while, the All New Invaders seemed like a fantastic series to be sinking y time and money into, capturing a cool aesthetic and time in the present. However, the series just doesn't give me enough to grasp on to to justify furthering my time with the series. The dialogue, though not bad, can be rather spotty, and often filled with awkward exposition. Hell, the villain spends an entire panel spelling out her evil plan to our heroes when there is literally no reason to and not doing so would probably have helped her infinitely in terms of getting away with it. We also aren't given enough to care about the Original Human Torch here, who is our only focal character present. Perhaps if we started the series with someone who is more well-known, aka everyone else, in order to draw readers newer to the team in, it would have been a much more successful experience. And, while it's by no means bad, the plot feels pretty bland and hackneyed for what it is.
The art is also overly disappointing, starkly different from the cover. The Original Human Torch in particular looks unappealing and generally off, whether it be his facial expression or general design. None of the aliens look very cool or interesting, and even our other heroes look a little squishy and unpolished.
Ultimately, this may just be something not for me. I can see others enjoying this profusely, especially if they have been waiting for the return of Hammond to comics. However, I can't earnestly recommend this to everyone, as it is clearly for a niche audience.
