    Wait - What's This Now?

All-New, All-Different Avengers 1 ended with Warbringer monologuing over the fallen Falcon Captain America, Iron Man and Miles Morales...

Our story opens with Miles Morales providing first aid to Sam, while trying to figure out how to rescue Stark from his own armor. The Vision arrives. He quickly and easily unlocks Stark's armor. Tony introduces the All-New, All-Different non-team to Mr. Gryphon, the man who bought Avengers Tower. The man they don't know greeted Warbringer.

The question is: Where did Warbringer go? He's in Jersey City collecting artifacts. Nova and Ms. Marvel confront him. As the property damage mounts, they are joined by the rest of the team, and, finally, Jane Foster Thor.

    The Good

This is an interesting line-up; almost a throwback to the early days and Captain America's Avengers. This has a Detroit Justice League vibe. A combination of Teen Titans and Young Justice. I like the idea of Miles Morales as a legacy character. I'm just not sure about bringing him over to the main Marvel Universe. Miles, Sam and Kamala all seem like interesting characters. Bringing them together with Stark and Vision seems like a pretty cool thing. I'm still not sold on Falcon-America. Sam Wilson is a great character. He's awesome. But the whole Winged Patriot motif...not so much. It just seems a little busy. The same with Jane Foster as Thor. She was once transformed into Sif for a while back in the late '70's wasn't she?

This is an offbeat book for Mark Waid, who is amazing over on Archie. The Alex Ross cover is awesome and the interior by Adam Kubert is pretty good.

    The Bad

There's just no epic feeling to the story. It reads kind of bland and generic. Which is surprising coming from Mark Waid. He's telling an amazing story over in Archie. Here, the story just feels flat, a soda without any fizz anymore.

Compare this confrontation with a Chitauri warrior to Kurt Busiek's relaunch. Busiek pulled out all the stops. There were so many Easter eggs. There were so many Avengers.

Bendis launched his Avengers run in epic fashion as well. He brought all the big names together.

    The Skinny

There's very little excitement here. Even the danger that Stark faces, trapped in his own armor is handled quickly. Almost too quickly. By The Vision.

All-New, All-Different Avengers 2 earns two stars, mainly for being a sandwich without any meat to it.
