Al's lifelong love of comics began in the 1960's when, as a kid, he discovered the Stan Lee/ Jack Kirby Fantastic Four, the Stan Lee/Jack Kirby Thor, and especially the Stan Lee/ Steve Ditko Spider-Man. Thinking he had outgrown the medium, Al quit reading for a number of years during which time Gwen Stacy was killed, convincing Al that things could not be trusted to go smoothly without him. He joined Jonathan Couper's Spiderfan.org in its first year and has written for it ever since, his current project being a near panel-by-panel examination of all Spider-Man appearances from the very beginning. After assisting with the Spider-Man Encyclopedia and Spider-Man: 500 Covers, Al became the Head Writer/Coordinator for the Spider-Man 2005 Handbook and continues to write for the Handbooks. He has written over 80 plays and had productions in New York, Miami, Cleveland, Milwaukee, Albuquerque and elsewhere. He even has some plays published but they are hard to find.
