Born Kurt Snurr, Airtight was a troublesome kid raised in New Haven, Connecticut. As such, he enjoyed the rush of entering a danger zone and had no problem tackling toxic gases and poisons. Also, he enjoys his practical jokes, which are mainly tolerated due to his aptitude in the field. He is also an astute ordnance user.
Airtight was introduced as a toy in 1985 and was introduced in comics a year later by artist Mike Zeck and writer Larry Hama.
Airtight is a CBR (Chemical, Biological, Radiological) Warfare specialist and also holds a secondary specialty in ordnance. He holds the rank of corporal E-4.
