Recap
Coulson wedges Cal between the SUV and the wall. The place has been locked down and now it’s just the two of them to have chat. Cal says when he gets free he’ll rip out Coulson’s voice box. Coulson tries explaining that they both want the same thing—to protect his Skye. Coulson pushes on and says it was his wife (Jaiying). She was the monster, not Cal. Deep down, he believes he’s a good man. Skye got her caring nature from him. Cal lets loose a bit of rage but finally starts talking calmly. He mentions how he had to put Jaiying back together, piece by piece after Whitehall tore her apart. He also mentions in the past, an elder from the village would offer themselves as a sacrifice to her every decade so she could carry on her mission. She had a good heart but after it was torn out, she changed. Cal would supply her with what she needed but it was never enough. Even he started not to be enough and he tried to change himself. He wanted to keep his promise to protect their daughter. Coulson asks if that includes protecting her from her mother? Cal frees himself. Coulson doesn’t stand down. He says Skye may not be his daughter but she’s the closest thing to family he has and he’ll do anything to protect her. Cal grabs him and says, “Let me help you.”
On the ship, the Inhumans continue to gather SHIELD agents as prisoners. Skye is locked up in a cell with her power restrainers. Mack frees her. He’s not too happy and Skye tries to explain she didn’t know about all this. It’s her mom that’s manipulating them.

Looking at the ship’s schematics, they find the main air duct for the entire ship. Jaiying orders some crystals to be taken down there and the rest put on a quintet. Lincoln reports that a distress beacon has been sent to Coulson’s base. Jaiying wants the signal expanded. She wants all of SHIELD to come. She wants to show everyone what they’re capable of. They grab one of the officers and unleash a Terrigen Crystal on him (in a locked room, to show the others what they’re capable of.
Mack and Skye were able to monitor this. They need to try to stop the beacon.
Coulson, Fitz, and Simmons see the beacon’s been expanded. Cal is sitting after being examined.
May, Hunter and some agents close in on where Bobbi is being kept. The trap is set as Agent 33 and Ward watch. Ward says he’ll take care of May. He owes her. Bobbi hears Hunter trying to call out to him. She’s still tied to the chair with the gun rigged to shoot whoever enters the room. Ward and Agent 33 start taking out agents (separately). May puts out a call to meet at a certain point in the building and Agent 33 can hear the call on the walkie talkie she took from an agent. Hunter’s about to open the door. Bobbi leans over as fas as she can and takes the bullet meant for Hunter. She can barely stay conscious.
We see May walking down the hall. Ward grabs her and shoots her several times. She says “Baby,” and reveals she’s really Agent 33. Ward is sad. Hunter is frantic as Bobbi is slipping away.
On the ship, Lincoln and Gordon stand over the big alien stone. Gordon says in the wrong hands, it would be lethal against them. Lincoln wonders how dangerou s they are. He says what Jaiying did was murder. Gordon reminds Lincoln how much they’ve done for him before he was with them.
Mack and Skye make their way through the ship. They split up so Skye can try to disable the beacon. Fitz says figured out a way to contain the teleporter in a single space. Bobbi is barely being kept stable. She stopped breathing before they landed. Simmons and the others take her to try to operate.
Lincoln finds Skye and asks how she got out. He doesn’t let her try to explain, he just blasts her with his electricity blasts. He thinks she’s trying to call out to her SHIELD friends. Skye tries explaining that her mom staged the whole thing and when he doesn’t believe her, she mentions how she dealt with Raina. Lincoln is torn but finally tells her where the crystals were taken. Mack arrives and knocks him out.

As Bobbi is semi-stable, Hunter sits with her and May calls her ex. He knows it’s not good if she’s calling. She says there was a lot she didn’t say before that she wishes she did. Fitz prepares to leave and Simmons asks him to be careful. Seeing Hunter with Bobbi, she realized they never spoke about what he said at the bottom of the ocean (last season). Fitz says this is not the time to talk about. Fitz says there isn’t anything to talk about but she tries saying maybe there is.
Several quintets are headed to the ship. May is not happy with Cal being on their jet. She says he’s a loose canon. Coulson says the one thing that’s consistent is his concern for Skye. Fitz notices another signal in the beacon, “It’s a trap.” Coulson orders the other jets to leave but they push forward. When Jaiying notices them leave, she says there’s no reason to wait and orders the crystals to be released by the prisoners they have. Either their Inhuman or they’re dead.
Skye sends another message about the dangers of the modified crystals. Cal says he’ll deal with his wife, Coulson and the others have to find the crystals.

Gordon arrives at the fan room and Mack is there. When Mack is asked who he is, he says he’s “the guy that kills Gordon.” Skye tries stopping her mom but the Inhuman that can make multiples of herself gets in the way. They’re about to fight as Gordon faces off against Mack. Mack has an axe but Gordon keeps teleporting around.
Jaiying finds Cal on the ship. She wonders why he’s there. Cal tries talking to her, telling her to stop. She needs to think about their daughter. Jaiying says she’s trying to protect her daughter from the dangers of the world, like he promised to. Cal is put in a locked room and they move on. Coulson and Fitz arrive in the engine room and Fitz starts setting up the quantum field disrupter.
Skyefights the multiples. She only has her fighting skills and puts up a great fight. Eventually she starts getting overwhelmed when there’s four of them taking her on. They’re dealt with when May and Lincoln come in together. Lincoln takes off Skye’s inhibitors. Skye says she’ll deal with her mom. May tries saying she’ll do it but Skye says she’ll do whatever it takes.

The field disrupter work and Gordon is trapped with them. Fitz explains “It’s Science, be-yotch.”
Jaiying is ready to leave on a quinjet with the crystals. Skye tries talking to her. Jaiying says, together, they could launch a revolution. Skye says it’s not about protecting herself or her people, it’s about hate. She can’t let her destroy any more lives. Jaiying moves her way towards Skye and starts to drain Skye. She says this is really her true gift. Skye is barely able to stand but manages to fire off a quake blast to knock the quinjet into the ocean before collapsing.
The fight with May and Lincoln against the multiples continues. Lincoln says it’ll stop if they tai out the source. When May tries killing her, he says they’re not bad, just misled.
Gordon is able to teleport around the room. It appears he’s taken out Fitz but really he teleported into the pipe Fitz was holding. As he collapses, he drops a crystal. Coulson dives to catch it…but his arm starts to change from the contact. Mack doesn’t hesitate and swings down the axe on his arm.
Jaiying moves to Skye again and resumes draining her. Cal arrives and snaps Jaiying’s neck. She whispers, “What are you doing?” He says, “Keeping my promise,” and cries as he holds her dead body.
Coulson is talking to May’s ex. He’s printing out some blueprints. He doesn’t want to talk about his arm but wants to know what his evaluation is of his team.
Bobbi wakes up. Hunter says she’s getting better and taking a bullet for him was stupid. Hunter says she’ll have to have another surgery and then they can start to work on her leg. Bobbi says she can’t "do this anymore."
Mack decided not to quit. He “kinda owed” Coulson after chopping off his hand without asking. He still does trust the alien tech so that’s why Coulson put him in charge of it, including the giant alien stone (that sometimes turns to liquid). May also asked for some time off for the first time.
May packs up some clothes from her locker, but of course goes back and packs a gun as well. Coulson is working on some new designs with Fitz. The report says Skye is ready for anything. She talks to her father as he’s being taken away. He shows remorse and is happy just to have found her. He says she’s better than he imagined and he imagined her perfect. He says he knows he’s going away for good but asks if she’ll come to visit him once in a while. She promises she will.

Ward is in a bar, staring at a picture of Agent 33. Some men come in and hand him a list of names. There’s not many on it. The leadership of HYDRA is gone. The organization ‘disintegrated.” Ward says he wants more name. They guy laughs and says there’s no leadership. Ward takes him down. Asks the others if they understand who they work for now. He misses having a team around. He wants more names. They say “Hail HYDRA to that.” They ask if he wants chaos. Ward says he wants closure.
Cal is seen setting up a sign at a veterinarian office. He notices Skye outside and asks if he can help her. He tells her his name is Doctor Winslow. She says her name is Daisy when he asks who she is. He apparently doesn’t remember who she is. Skye then walks to Coulson at his car. They put Cal through the Tahiti Program. Coulson asks if she’s ready to focus her energy. She asks on a “team centered around people with powers?” She’s the only one on the list. She says her mom was right about one thing, people like her need to be kept a secret, not like the Avengers. Coulson agrees, the idea is to be anonymous. They have to do this, they don’t have a choice. His hand is his permanent reminder that they have to be more aware.
Cut to the ocean. The case of Terrigen Crystals is disputing in the water towards a school of fish, they eventually end up in fish oil supplements.
Fitz is talking to Simmons by the alien artifact thing. He brings up them going to dinner after she’s finished. It’s a little awkward and it looks like his hand slips on a latch on the container. The stone liquifies, shoots out, grabs Simmons and returns back in its original form.

Thoughts
This was a pretty explosive and satisfying finale. Things did escalate pretty quickly between the Inhumans and SHIELD but we get some closure to the Inhuman story (for now) along with having the answers about Skye's past settled. After two seasons, we're seeing Skye grow quite a bit as a character.
There are some questions about the future of the show. Coulson and Skye's conversation hinted at a team full of powered people. Could we see Lincoln hang around? The red-headed lady that could make multiples of herself? This faction of Inhumans don't have a teleporter anymore. We know Bobbie and Hunter were supposed to head off to their own show. That would've fit with Bobbi saying she was done with being an agent. Apparently that show is not happening so they can remain on this show. We have to assume May will return as well. What about Simmons? Will she go through some sort of change if she survives whatever happened to her at the end?

I've said it before, MacLachlan as Skye's dad kept getting better and better. It was actually sad seeing him say goodbye to Skye and how he only had one best day ever--the day she was born. Perhaps someday he'll make his way back. It could be possible for Jaiying to return as well.
Ward moving in on the remains of HYDRA could be interesting. Does he have what it takes to lead whatever is left of the organization? This could be an opportunity for him to appear in the Cinematic Universe movies, like Civil War. Maybe he'll just continue to be a foil for the Agents. He still wants closure over Agent 33's death and likely blames May.
As a whole, the season did consistently improve. They did some ambitious things with setting up the Inhumans already and escalating the war between them and SHIELD. A lot was settled and we're left with some interesting cliffhangers to keep on waiting for the return of the show. If we will be seeing more superpowers on the show next season, those complaining about the lack of it should be happy.
