atypical lazy Bendis double page splash pages 5

AF Reviews: AvengersWe kick off the greatest and most important thing to happen to comics ever since Avengers vs. X-Men, with Age of Ultron #1 by Brian Michael Bendis and Bryan Hitch.Do you remember like over a year ago when we got a teaser for Age of Ultron in one of those Marvel Point One one-shots? If you read that already, then congratulations, you've read Age of Ultron #1. Well, actually, you read Age of Ultron #1 with even less horrible characterization and use of Hawkeye. 80% of this stor...

    Why Marvel? 12

SPOILERS!i don't know where to start with this, i honestly don't. I've been really enjoying some of the other titles from marvel now, but then this came along, i just.....dear god.there is absolutely nothing good about this title, but before i get to the bad, i want to say the ONLY thing that is good here, which isn't much. Bryan Hitch's art is , as always, great. I really like the way he draws in these types of scenarios. His Art is gritty, which fits the setting, he isn't my favorite, but he i...

The big event that is not so big is here 7

So another year another event from Marvel. They once said that after Siege they'll take a break from events for a couple of years but that never happened.Every year around March we got the prologue or the first issue of the new event and the event for 2013 is here.Sometimes I think that Marvel's characters can't take a break but they don't think so.It looks like we have a first issue of a big event centered around only one particular character and that guy is Hawkeye. The whole issue is about his ...

A bore of an event 0

Despite him being a big name at Marvel, I have never been much of a fan of Bendis. It's not something that I can quite pin down, but something has always seemed off with his writing, at least to me. So when I heard that he was writing the latest event comic for Marvel, I was, shall we say, less than enthused. So much happened in this issue, yet at the same time, it felt like nothing happened. We are introduced to the titular Age of Ultron, yet we are given no explanation of how things got the way...

Age of Ultron Book One Review 7

Writer: Brian Michael BendisPenciler: Bryan HitchInker: Paul NearyColorist: Paul MountsI often wonder why some comic books are legendary and some are after thoughts and after reading Age of Ultron #1 I think I have narrowed it down. The key of an epic book is having a writer that is in their peak and right now there isn’t anyone like Brian Michael Bendis. While reading Age of Ultron I thought damn this is so good it must be Bendis. This guy is just known for greatness and he does not fall sho...

    A Slow Start 0

The desolation of Ultron not only leaves the the streets of New York City an utter wasteland but leaves the pages of the first issue feeling a little empty. The creators really hammer home the message that nearly all hope is already lost. A slow but intriguing start to Marvel's next big event. Watch our review and recap below! ...

The Age of Ultron Has Finally Arrived 3

I have been looking forward to this story for ages. Ever since it was teased in Avengers #12.1 I have been really looking forward to this story, as I'm a huge fan of Bryan Hitch's art, and I love Ultron as a character. I was however disappointed to notice low ratings on this issue, and was dreading how bad it might be. I still however hope the series good overall.PlotIn an apocalyptic future Ultron rules, and the remaining heroes live underground. Hawkeye goes on a mission to rescue Spider-Man, ...

Hawkeye and Spider-man in age of Ultron event Starts next issue 0

This well I could not wait for this event seriously could not wait for it when it was announced I immediately made room to buy it all as it looked suitably epic so you know how I felt when it got a lot of negative reviews (disappointed)PlotUltron has taken over the world and has destroyed most of it. Hawkeye breaks into a building to save Spider-man but meets resistance when he discovers it is run by Owl and Hammerhead.ReviewThis does not feel like the actual event it feels more like a prelude t...

    Not so bad 1

There are a lot of good points being made for why people don't like this first issue. But I'm writing this review mainly to help out the minority who actually enjoyed this book. The Art!The GoodMy GOODNESS the art is great! The muted tones and bleak and tattered landscape effectively tells of a dystopian population. Hitch's panel work is great with some great perspective changes within scenes that don't confuse, but add to the scene. The BadThe layout of the panels seems slightly uninspired given ...

    Marvel 616.1 0

The GoodI wasn't reading comics in (or alive for most of) the '90s, but I think I would have liked a certain gimmick that apparently arose during that decade: dat cover. I've heard a lot of people say that they don't like it, but I can honestly say that I like it.Of what I've been reading, Hawkeye has been nothing but really cool. He just epitomizes "badass" in this issue, with the way that he handles the bad guys of this book. Has he always been this cool?Bryan Hitch is amazing and everyone nee...

The start of something big 0

Age of Ultron book one is just the start. Writer Brian Michael Bendis got something big planned, the art in this comic is unbelievable! I cant wait to read the next issues. We need more comic like this one. I really do recommend this to a reader who loves MARVEL, who loves action, and who loves end of the world kind o things. This issue is kind of confusing because they just start off with Ultron already ruling so you don't know what completely happened but I hope we will soon ...

    Welcome to the Future... 0

Age of Ultron is a series that I have been looking forward to for a while. It's written by one of my favorite writers,Brian Michael Bendis, and involves three of my favorite comic book concepts: superheroes, robots, and post-apocalyptic scenarios. Now that I've finally gotten my hands on book one I can honestly say that it really does combine all of these concepts and was jsut what I was expecting, just a lot better. Now onto the review: WARNING:SPOILERS AHEAD!A broken and bloodied Spider-Man Welcome ...
