    Age of Apocalypse

    Synopsis

In a dark and parallel universe, a gang of humans called the Exterminated join together to find Logan's dark counterpart, Weapon Omega.

    The Good

What I like about this issue is that it delivers a unique tale set in a parallel universe. You get to see several familiar characters from the Marvel 616 universe. These characters were quite different from their original counterparts, especially William Stryker who shows off his unpredictable moves unlike the 616 version. On the other hand, Logan who was the former Weapon X hero, became a bad villain in the Uncanny X-Force series and now starts on a desperate search for his wife, Jean Grey. The art is impressive and it acts as a true classic right from the famous X-Men storyline.

    The Bad

The problem is that the fight scene between Keeper Murdoch and Prophet was strangely shifted to a scene where the Exterminated are speaking to a reporter from another Earth. I liked to see the fight further and end at some point. It feels like time has been fast forward all of a sudden. There’s also the question how long the Exterminated will find Weapon Omega. If you read the latest The Dark Angel story arc in Uncanny X-Force, Weapon Omega has been taken over by the late Apocalypse’s dark seed. If any case that the former Weapon X can be stopped, what will become of the dark seed then? Will it transfer to another host? I’ll have to wait and see how this story goes, hoping that the Exterminated won’t exterminate Weapon Omega any time soon.

    The Verdict

X-Men fans should definitely check this issue out. It’s good to be drawn back into the world ruled by the once and dead Apocalypse. One of the best alternate reality stories ever been told in dark ages. I’ll give this AoA issue four Apocalypse seeds out of five.

      a pleasant surprise 0

To start things off, I have a very basic idea of Age of Apocalypse and I know very little about the universe other than the overall concept. I know even less about William Stryker, at one point I thought he and Thunderbolt Ross were the same character. Still, I can't really harp on this comic much. This is a good introduction to the nasty brutal world where mutants hunt down the last remaining humans. To start off, William Stryker in this universe is apparently Batman. His intro pretty much desc...
