    "Weekly Shonen Jump" Okinawa

    Story arc »

A short-but-popular serialization by Keiji Nakazawa that was tied to the then current event of the United States eventually returning Okinawa to Japan. The work was published shortly before the official occupation ended but was meant to depict what life had been like for locals living under the occupation, similarly to how Nakazawa's autobiographical works depicted his own difficult childhood experiences during the atomic bombings of Japan.
