Plot
Captain America and Cable
There wasn't really much plot here, its clearly designed to be characters teaming up for a fight and little more. This story was set during World War II and involved some time travelling (which was predictable) along with Captain America and Cable, Bucky Barnes, Atticus Trask and a Sentinel make an appearance.
I'm not exactly an expert on Bucky so others may know this already but I/we get insight on his true role in fights like these. I thought this was pretty awesome. He also gave us a quote when referring to Cable to which I found myself very amused.
Hulk and Wolverine
Even less plot here than in the first story. It was Hulk and Wolverine teaming up for a disappointingly brief fight with their future selves. It had an intriguing cliffhanger at the end but not enough to salvage the poor writing.
I was also mildly irritated by the way the Hulk started off speaking like he would with his Savage Hulk persona then switched do dialect more similar to that of Gravage Hulk later on in the comic.
Art
The thing I did really like about this issue was the art. Both stories featured some brilliant pieces. I would give the art a 9/10 (which is no small feat, only two artists have been awarded with full marks!) and it did redeem the appalling story to a degree. The pencils and the colouring fitted together nicely in both comics but it lacked something that I can't quite put my finger on.
Verdict
Looking back on what I have written, it seems to be much less than I would usually write and this reflects on the comic. Each story was too short to reach its full potential and it failed to entertain me as much as a comic based on two big fights should. I give it a 1.5/5 and - given the option - would only buy it if it went down in price as part of a sale - and even then only because Hulk is my favourite Marvel character. If you don't like any of the characters in this comic, don't buy it.
P.S. I really hope someone recognizes the reference in the title...
