    Destined To Be A Classic

In the final installment of 300, it should comes as no surprise if you know your history, the Spartans make a final stand against an army that will overwhelm them. It's an age-old tale, The Alamo, The Charge of the Light Brigade, etc. the ultimate price paid by soldiers whose lives are not wasted, but sacrificed like pawns in a gambit to win a war. While Miller and Varley's version may arguably be less powerful than some of the poetry, stories and films of some of these other war stories, it is so far the best version we have in comic form. And, when all's said and done, this story is so artistically well-rendered that even though you know what's coming, it's still worth the read. Destined to be a classic of the genre.
