It's official. Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie will be taking on the YOUNG AVENGERS in their upcoming Marvel NOW! title.

This is my chance to take a serious crack at reinventing the Marvel teen super hero for the 21st century,” said writer Kieron Gillen. “So I recruited my favorite collaborators in a Dirty-Dozen fashion, and set about the task. I couldn't be more excited if I was having adrenaline pumped into me intravenously. If the original Young Avengers was about being 16, this is about being 18. It's a small difference, but an important one.

Besides Loki and Ms America, we'll also see Wiccan, Hulkling, Kate Bishop and Noh-Varr. Gillen said in an interview with CBR there will be other characters brought in later but wants a smaller team than what he had on UNCANNY X-MEN.

Each issue will feature special augmented reality content through the Marvel AR app.

Glad to see young Avengers back. The lineup looks interesting but I am disappointed that Patriot is not in the initial lineup.

meh. loki should make things interesting. in the very least fanboys can shut up now about wanting a YA book.

Awesome cover. Great cast outside of Wiccan and Hulking. Plus you add Gillen and McKelvie so the quality is going to be there. I'm glad more characters will be brought in later on. Good stuff overall.

Hmm, while it might turn out good, it does sound a little too much like concept of the original Teen Titans (as in a younger version of an older team)...and that only became really good once it moved away from that idea.

But like I said, it might be good (just annoying the AA kids have either vanished or stuffed in a meatgrinder :S)

While this is good, why can't it be the Runaways?

Would have liked to see Spider-Girl on the roster, but still, can't wait for this.

@ccraft: You talking about the show? because Young Avengers has been around since 2001… The Young Justice Comic did come out before then. But Young Avengers predates the show.

Young Avengers has been around for years though, and has proved that the characters are far more than younger versions of The Avengers.

This is the best news that Marvel Now! has to offer.

I've never read the original Young Avengers or Phonogram. The $2.99 price point makes it tempting though.

I'd read it if it was with out gays in it. same as Earth 2.

The fact that Loki is in this makes me want to buy this book, but i was also hoping that the Runaways would be the 'Amateurs' Marvel was talking about. Oh well, can't wait!!!!!!!!!

Don't get me wrong, but I am very weary of this book's final product. Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung are premuch the only ones that have held the main YA titles afloat.

Kieron Gillen is an awesome writer but Uncanny X-Men wasn't exaclt the best X-book. He has big shoes to fill...

The inclusion of Noh-Varr confuses me. I thought that was Speed with a guna at first glance of the cover. Where is Speed anyway? Kate Bishop will be appearing in both Hawkeye and here? and Ms. America is...? I do like Kid Loki as part of the team.

Young Avengers came before Young Justice. The YA title first came out in 2005 and YJ premiered last year.

Not as obvious than it is this time however, from what I can see of it is a young clone of the original team; A Cap, A Hulk, A Thor, An Iron Man and A Hawkeye...with A Loki!

Yes! Finally I've been waiting for another Young Avengers series! I would've liked some other characters in it like a few Runaways but I love it!

Never liked anything Kieren Gillan has written so far so I'm hesitant to try this.

Why is it that the book I REALLY want to buy has no characters I'm interested in and the book I am scared of has nothing but characters I love? Sigh...

I love the Young Avengers, I love Kid Loki I was nervous as to what would become of him now that Sif is taking over JiM, and Noh-Varr is back! And he isn't wearing his stupid power ranger costume! I am interested to see how they explain his inclusion, for one he is a bit older than the others and he was left behind on Hala...and is kinda a traitor.

I know but I would rather have them in a Runaways series than that. Besides, most people probably aren't aware that Chase is alive after the end of the last volume, it was actually mentioned in their Daken crossover but still.
