He killed Commander Gree (the clone commander formerly under his command) and, with the aid of Chewbacca and Tarfful, managed to escape in a hidden pod. He went on to confront Palpatine who had just declared himself Emperor but lost. Realizing there was nothing more he could do, Yoda went into exile on Dagobah so that he could live on to train Jedi against Palpatine.

After he rescued Han Solo from Jabba the Hutt, Luke Skywalker returned to Yoda to finish his training. Yoda told Luke that there was nothing more he could teach Luke and informed him of his twin sister. Shortly afterwards, he died and became one with the force, joining Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Luke Skywalker came to Yoda to finish his training after the death of Obi-Wan. Yoda did the best he could in the short time available but the training was cut short when Luke insisted on leaving Dagobah in order to save his friends on Bespin.
