It's no question that the X-Men are one of the most successful Marvel properties, so it wasn't much of a surprise to anyone when the publisher revealed the decision to launch a whole new title featuring some popular X-characters. We know what you're thinking (because we thought it too), there are already so many X-titles, right? Yet according to writer Greg Pak, this book promises to be different.

We're going all new, all the time,” Pak promises, “The joy of a book like X-TREME X-MEN is that literally anything can happen—we're running wild, pressing all the danger buttons, and pushing our characters to their limits. So as much as I love so many of the existing alternate Marvel realities, we're going to cut loose as creators as well and dream up new worlds that feed our big storyline and create the right kind of crises for our characters' emotional arcs.

The book will bring some very interesting X- characters to the forefront including Kid Nightcrawler, Dazzler, and alternate universe versions of both Emma Frost and Armor who you might recall seeing recently from Pak's ASTONISHING X-MEN. Now, you very well can't feature alternate universe versions of some of Marvel's most popular characters and not expect to see them jump from one dimension to the next, right? Pak's new series will see these characters do exactly that: take on threats on more than one dimension, which should definitely be interesting.

XTREME X-MEN will be written by Greg Pak and drawn by artist Stephen Segovia and will launch this July. For those wondering whether these stories will connect with the regular Marvel Universe, the answer is yes.

I don't think that this will be anything different than any other X-Men book but I will give it a try.

exiles under a 90s title

Since canceling U-Xmen becuz of Greg Land...it's good that I can replace an X-Title with another one. Awesome looks sweet.

Well Dazzler and AU Armor sound interesting but Wolverine really needs to stop being in every X-title, regardless of what reality he is from

is this the 616 dazzler or an alternate? either way i am excited. dazz has needed some spotlight for a long time. i really love the character and i feel her appearances in uncanny have downplayed how powerful she is. so i hope she gets a chance to shine.

Multiverse stuff just doesn't interest me at all. I don't read Ultimates, I never wanted to read AoA, and I'm hating the recent Uncanny X-Force arc. I'm 616 all the way :P

This series sounds like Exiles. Another sliding moment. =P

Series X-Men have a lot of titles out. Some are being cancelled, and some titles are coming back. This might be interesting. I might check it out.

That's because this team and book hadn't been announced back then.

They won't be on either team, because it's basically Exiles. It's doubtful that any of their stories will be taking place in 616. The Schism more than likely will have absolutely no bearing on this book.

I think the fact that Greg Pak is taking this on is the only redeeming factor in this whole upcoming series. Other than that, its just another X-Title to me.

Really? Despite the fact that it doesn't even tie in with the other X-Men titles or the 616 universe for that matter? I mean, I understand people eschewing books because they don't want to deal with all the wrapped in continuity or the inevitable tie-ins to events, but as an alternate reality book, this will have none of that.

@The Dark Huntress: I know, but continuity issues never do faze me that much. I mean I'll probably never pick up the title (and not because I don't wanna, its more a $$$ issue), but with Greg Pak at the helm I think it would be interesting still.

I really wonder if it is the wise choice to further fracture your reader base by making yet another X-title series. Sure, it's fun to have something sitting outside of continuity. X-FACTOR has be doing that to rather impressive effect. Still, this just seems like another shot at reviving EXILES with a twist. It would be more interesting to take new and really exciting looks at heroes in this universe. They may try that, but isn't this need why they have the Ultimate universe?

The idea is that if something is popular to just make more of it, but does that really work? You're just splitting your readers apart and making them decide one book over another.
