It has been a few years since we have seen the X-men on TV. The last one being Wolverine and the X-men back in 2008. Do you think there will be another X-men cartoon?
X-Men
Team » X-Men appears in 13419 issues.
The X-Men are a superhero team of mutants founded by Professor Charles Xavier. They are dedicated to helping fellow mutants and sworn to protect a world that fears and hates them.
Will there ever be another X-men animated series?
Probably.
The last one was the X-Men Anime in 2011.
No it wasn't.

I hope so. I need my fix.
Probably.
Probably.
If they do one I hope they don't the American cartoon route where most things have to be silly and zany. I would like to see them adopt a more eastern type of feel in which the cartoons are respected as much as crime dramas and sitcoms. Use it to do some real stuff in similar vain to what Wolverine and the Xmen and TAS did.

@koays: I didn't like it.

I agree with the bold.

This is coming from the guy who thinks the mid to late 2000s was a great time for the X-Men books ;P

You should check it out.
@cattlebattle: Lmao...pfft whatever Matt Fraction 4 President.

This line only seems viable after suffering two years of bendis and aaron

pfft I've said for years Fraction was only "bad" because he was the only "X-Men" writer at the time. If there was a solid B-team to follow then he would've been great...except for some of the Greg Land stuff...but still
lol, yes....but more for personal safety reasons then anything else. No ones ever defined there childhood with the X-Men anime, I'm pretty sure there are gangbangers, and murderers who swear by TAS.

Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhhh........
I have always thought Whedon's run is heavily over rated and I don't have many nice things to say about the Rise and Fall of the Shiar Empire and Magik story arcs, and I never really liked relaunched "extreme, heavy metal, dark colored, death squad X-Force!!" either.

really? none of that stuff? huh.
I would love to see a series based on the Claremont/Byrne X-Men but sadly I don't think it will ever happen. Nightcrawler and Colossus have never been part of the main team in animation!
@tristanheron: Nightcrawler was like the best part of X-Men Evolution.

ew
..I don't even know if I disagree with that (was that corn the best part of my morning bowel movement? who knows?)..
..but to me that is just simply not Nightcrawler.
oh, damn. and now I know how all the people complaining about the time-displaced O5 feel...
I.. I have to go sit down..

Teenage X-Men sucked balls.
you mean 'Evolution? or just teenage X-men in general?
I loved the first few seasons of X-Men: The Animated Series...then at the end, especially the last season the animation went completely to crap.
Evolution was too kiddy-kiddy for me.
Wolverine and the X-Men was pretty solid, especially the flashforwards with the future X-Men and the inclusion of some lesser known mutants. They made Cyclops into such a wiener though, and I really would love to see something that doesn't revolve around the frickin' Phoenix.
I think a series following a different version of the Exiles would be pretty amazing. Hop around alternate realities from the comics and encounter different versions of popular characters.
Teenage X-Men sucked balls.

I was referring to evolution.

I only saw like one episode of Evolution. I remember seeing them in high school and thinking wtf.

X-Men Evolution was a gem and deserved 3more seasons then it had

I actually kind of liked the premise of having the X-men be made up of students and teachers, because to me that cassically is the premise of X-men. Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Iceman, etc, were all originally envisioned as teenage characters, so tweaking continuity to have them on the same team with Kitty, Rogue, etc, actually seemed kind of brilliant to me.
I just thought the characterization for some of the characters -most notably Nightcrawler, Storm, and Wolverine- seemed to miss the mark of what was cool about the characters in the first place.
Oh, and the art-style/character designs were pretty ugly.

I liked it more than TAS, but that's really not saying much.
Like I said I didn't really watch it, but I thought it was weird that they had Cyclops and Jean so young. Even in the debut of X-Men in the silver age all but Iceman was 18. One of Bendis' many retcons was deaging them and making them the same age as iceman. In Ultimate X-Men, which the show seemed to get inspiration from, had most of the main character starting out at 18 and 19. I just thought it was weird seeing them so young. I am not really saying the show was bad, because I wouldn't know since I didn't watch it.
I think you're wrong about the original X-men. As I recall, Beast was 18, but he was the oldest; Iceman was 15, and the youngest, but the others were in between, so, 16 or 17? -they were meant to be kids, at any rate. Stan Lee didn't write them any different than Spider-man (who was 16), or even Archie characters for that matter.
Bendis obviously only used this as the roughest of guides, but he was at least better at writing characters who actually seemed like teenagers than Lee.
Also, it seems extremely unlikely that X-Men: Evolution drew it's premise from Ultimate X-Men, since it debuted a year before Ultimate' started. It seems more likely that they both drew from the idea that most of the characters were introduced as teenagers :/
@oldnightcrawler: well if you wanna bash TAS I'll help...my entire generation of fans is damaged by that show. X-Men evolution never harmed anyone

I can't help but feel like people, especially those who started with TAS, see it as the X-men, where they see Evolution' as a kid-friendly alternate reality thing, and thus take it less seriously..
..to me they're both alternate realities, both watered-down versions of the original characters. I hold no ill will towards either, but I was never a fan of either either.
In the first issue I iceman stated he was a couple years younger than the rest, and later on I remember him it being said he was 16. I didn't really read the silver age stuff it might of been retconed later. Or maybe the issue that stated Bobby was 16 was after he already aged. I don't think so though, since during that time characters seemed to age in real time. Which is why it only took spider-man a couple years to graduate high school.
I actually believe this to be the case, because of this.
The reason I said that it looks like they got inspiration from ultimate X-Men was because I have seen wolverine wearing the exact same outfit he did in ultimate.
not exactly the same, but I know the ones you mean. I think that inspiration actually went in the opposite direction, as in 'Evolution influenced Ultimate'. Maybe not even, though, since both of those costumes are kind of bastardizations of his classic brown costume.

Your right...though I feel like it got a lot of flack for not being TAS and has never been accepted despite its superior writing. TAS was a watered down concept that leaned heavily on source material, where as Evolution sort of carves its own universe.
I really consider TAS to be the animated equivalent to Morrison. Not the worst thing ever, and has great contributions to the fandom....but I don't think it should be anyone's first X-Men experience.

MOst of the X-men cartoons were western I believe. Which one was zany and silly. The majority of them dealt with racism, character deaths, traitors and so on. Even in Evolution their house blew up and it was the start of mutant racism...and that was the light heated series.
I probably missed one, so which one were you talking about?
@koays: Yeah that may be true, but at no stage did you get the three amigos of Colosus, Nightcrawler and Wolverine. Lets see an animated adaption of UXM 183.
