Why???
X-Men
Team » X-Men appears in 13416 issues.
The X-Men are a superhero team of mutants founded by Professor Charles Xavier. They are dedicated to helping fellow mutants and sworn to protect a world that fears and hates them.
Why the hell does Storm need to be with the Avengers???
What did I miss? Since when is Storm an Avenger.
Its a new development from news released today. Big cover image and everything. G-Man has a thread around here with details. Sorry about spoilers too BTW, but chances are you would have seen anyway, since its like.. getting hard not to. =(
I'm fine with her being a member. I actually think this should have been done quite some time ago but the Avenger as a team have become such an abstract thing now that becoming a member isn't even an honor anymore. They just made DD a member after Shadowland and after saying no several times. They don't care anymore. Marvel just does whatever.

Ya im not liking everyone being an Avenger, but I love storm being one. Honestly she makes the most since out of all the X-men, a hell of alot more than Wolverine.
Wolverine being an Avenger makes perfect sense....They needed someone like him on the team....basically because he would do whatever needed to be done to get the job done and isn't afraid to kill to do it....the Avengers didn't have anyone like that at the time
Honestly Storm being on the Avengers is redundant as long as Thor is a member....I'm not opposed to her being on the team....she's just not needed
I agree with this but the New Avengers to have Cage on the team and there are 3 other members on the team that pretty much have his abilities and more.Honestly Storm being on the Avengers is redundant as long as Thor is a member....I'm not opposed to her being on the team....she's just not needed

Anyone can be an Avenger now. I wouldn't be surprise if in the future Lebron James was a member.

Is Wolverine still gonna be with them? Is she still gonna be with Cyclops' team????
you ask her yourself, you are Cyclops right? hehehe. : )

just kidding. some are crazy. some aren't.
I agree Avengers would allow anyone on the team. surprised someone like Hitmonkey is not with them yet.
I like her better there than with any X-team at this point. With all her gripes over X-Force, I don't think she should want any more to do with Cyclops than she does with Wolverine. I think someone like her being on the Avengers would also be really good publicity for Mutantkind.

This.
They already have Beast, as far as I know you don't lose membership and during Revolution he was still recognized as an Avenger and thus a celebrity.I like her better there than with any X-team at this point. True, but I think both her appearance and her personality reach a different audience as an ambassador... together they raise awareness for the diversity of the Mutant community. No matter how charming, down to earth, and well spoken you are, some people are never going to get over the blue fur. She's got the whole Royalty/ Goddess thing going for her, though I don't imagine her being nearly as relatable in an interview.
She doesn't raise a diversity issue, if anything she would remind humans how beautiful people like her can be mutants and hide among them. Xavier, Jean and Emma took the role as ambassadors for mutant kind and all people saw was regular looking people that were mutants, it just didn't work. People won't see her as a goddess, only the tribes she lived with thought of her as that because they did not know what a mutant was, and Thor is a real god and a prince so they have already covered that aspect in Avengers. Beast was inhuman looking and at the same time a scholar and very charming, most people that hate mutants don't hate Beast as much because he was an Avenger and as inhuman as he looks, he is still very human in nature. Same with Wanda she was a mutant, but she was an Avenger so human/mutant relations didn't affect her like it did the non-Avenger mutants. There is an example used in Generation X, when Skin saved a bunch of people on a boat from one of Dark Beasts minions (Fever Pitch), they were at first hesitant when they thought he was a mutant, when he lied and said he was bitten by a radioactive elephant they were fine with him saving them.@LordOfAllHumans said:

I'm in favor of it. Storm doesn't need this nonsense with Wolverine and Cyclops. Did you know back in the day she declawed Wolverine when Mystique's Brotherhood was attacking the white house? She told him to keep those damn claws in his wrists and only to pop them out when it was 100% necessary and you know what? He obeyed! Then she kicked the crap out of Cyclops when he got all entitled and thought he should overtake the X-men.
But Storm isn't appreciated amongst the X-men any more, they seem to have forgotten that she was the one they looked to as a leader. It makes sense she would take a position with a group where she may just be viewed as a valuable asset and not the resident weather witch.

TRUER WORDS WERE NEVER SPOKEN.
Storm fans are just comic hipsters who liked certain characters years before everyone else. Still, it's somewhat creepy when people refer to her as a goddess.

Her hair is stark white, her eyes are blue and at least the way I see her as being portrayed, she always has a sort of other-worldliness to her. Even if her hair was dark and her eyes brown, she'd stand out like a sore thumb in a room, feeling the weather as an extension of your being would tend to do that to you. I wan't using the term Goddess literally, rather I was describing how she holds herself, whether intends it or not. Sublime, I think is the key word. There is terror in the sublime, but it is very hard to hate. When it comes to Charles, Jean and Emma, their success or failures as ambassadors really depend on who's writing them and towards what ends. They've had good days and bad days and days they almost accidentally destroy the world and/or universe. Also, all three of the characters you mention can peer inside your head, and rewire your personality if they feel like it. On a basic level, that is way more violating and terrifying than being struck by lighting or hit with a hurricane. If those three have failed, this might have something to do with it. If they ever truly succeeded, it also would kill the premise of the books, so I don't think you can hold that against them. It is certainly true that with Thor around she's kind of redundant power-wise... but in terms of him being a God and a prince, that does nothing fro the mutant cause because he's not a mutant. I've never suggested that she in any way replaces Hank, something you seem to be reacting against. Far from it. I just think they compliment each other well, and as Avengers can help promote a more positive image for mutantkind. So long as Ororo doesn't go crazy and start rewriting the fabric of reality... or something silly like that. (Even before that Wanda was a founding member of the Brotherhood... and her father's daughter. If she wasn't affected by human/mutant issues I think it has way more to do with writers not wanting to tackle those issues in the Avengers title than anything else. Really, she's got it coming.)
Skin? I miss Skin. What a great character.
I think it's about time. I always thought she was a member at one point. Besides, I would choose her as an Avenger before Wolverine or Beast. I don't get the problem with it.

Storm definitely deserves to be an Avenger. Absolutely. It's about time actually - My only beef is that it took them long enough to bring her into the fold.
agreed. And did Marvel choose her to become an Avenger or did Bendis chose her?
I dont know why people are buttering up the Avengers like it is some privilidge. Oh, ya, maybe cuz Marvel are trying to cash in on them (movies) and need some X-men (Wolverine, Beast and now Storm) to appeal to the X-men fans. Well, not this one.
Storm doesn't NEED to be with the Avengers. It would be a better idea if it wasn't for the crappy timing.
I think all this double duty between the avengers and x-men is starting to get on my nerves. I didnt mind adjectiveless x-men for the X Universe to cross over with the rest of the Marvel U on a regular basis, but the Avengers need to lay off stealing X-men.
The Avengers are known for their constant roster changes, not to mention that since the very beginning they had Mutants on their team with Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. As I am with Beast or Wolverine, I don't see anything wrong with Storm (or any X-Men) joining the ranks of Earth's Mightiest Heroes; I do agree though that it does feel a bit random, not to mention they do already have Thor and last time I checked Wolverine was still going to be n the team post-Fear Itself...as far as the most recent covers show that is, so I don't see why they need to TWO X-Men randomly on the team.
But one thing I like about this is now anyone who brings the whole "How is Wolverine be EVERYWHERE" argument have to take Storm in consideration as she is with Scott's X-Men in California and is now also on The Avengers in New York.
But Storm isn't on X-FOrce, New Avengers and her own solo series and one shots. Don't get me wrong, I love Logan, but if he wants to run a school, the writers need to realize he has a school to run. It's just a tactic Marvel is using to get X-men readers to pick up Avengers as well. Storm, Beast and Logan might be doing double duty, but they are always X-men.
