Who do you think would be the best mutant to join the X-Men? It can be any mutant, so long as they've never been a member in the past. I think Jamie Madrox would be the perfect choice to replace Cyclops when he leaves / dies / retires as leader.

    (Sorry about the wrong board)

I've always dug Electro. It would be great to see at least a short story arc where he reforms, or pretends to reform, and seeks refuge. There could be run-ins with Spiderman and Daredevil rogues who nurse various grudges, or against heroes seeking to bring him in. I could see him getting along with Wolverine. He's no slouch in the power department, either - if written properly, he can hurt em' damn plenty.

Marvel.com says he was hit by lightning, which caused a 'mutagenic' change in his nervous system:

    http://www.marvel.com/universe/Electro_%28Maxwell_Dillon%29

I've read comics where it said he was a mutant as well. Can't remember which off the top of my head. I've actually been struck by lightning myself. Sadly, lacking the mutant gene, no electrical powers as of yet.

Again, the lightning was a catalyst for the mutagenic change. Tons of people get hit by lighting. As for being a villain, I doubt his body count is anywhere near Wolverine's. Depending on the writer, he can also be quite powerful. I think there would be potential for cool stories, with a whole different assortment of villains than the X-Men usually combat. The Hood and company, for example.

Mutagenic change meaning he's a mutate. Not a mutant, a mutant have to be born with the mutant gene.

How does getting electrocuted give you powers without the mutant gene? There was nothing special about the lightning, no radioactivity, magic, or weird super-science chemicals... 'Mutagenic' means just that, to me, in the absence of these other factors.

I don't know, but he was hit by lightning and grabbed a powerline at the same time.

They certainly could retcon him into being a mutant like they did with Cloak and Dagger, but he isn't a mutant until they do.

It's not really clear if 616 Mimic is a mutant or mutate, but it would be awesome to see him again. He was last seen as a captive of the Thunderbolts during Civil War.

Yes,but Electro was born a homo sapien.Mutants are born homo superior. You can mutate DNA but Electro doesn't have the X-gene.So technically Electro is different but he's still human.

    Selene, the Black Queen

In a way, it can twist the X-Men because they will have another queen who is more bitchy, dangerous and egotiscal than their current white queen. But in terms of power and tactics, she can give them more.

Oooookay. I shall agree to disagree. Under any interpretation, Electro's as much a mutant as Mimic, who's been in the X-Men. Mimic's powers were caused by a lab accident of his father, who also made a machine to take away those powers, so not a mutant. Mimic would rock as a new X-guy. Especially if they did a little darker and less limited version than the Exiles version. Selene is great, but maybe too evil to be redeemable.
