I really love All New X-Men but I really hate their costumes.
Anyone else think they should have the X-Men First Class outfits? I mean why bother redesigning their look if you're not going to use it.
Team » X-Men appears in 13416 issues.

They did use it, in First Class.
Anyway, I'm probably biased because I think their original uniforms are perfect.
Also, I never really cared for their First Class outfits. They seem out of place in the era they're supposed to be from; it's like they're too modern or overly stylized considering that there were almost no other superheroes when they started. Maybe if the "O5" in All-new X-men wore them, it might make a little more sense, but I still just don't think they look all that good.

I know that but considering they redesigned their costumes it seems silly to me that they wouldn't use them a few months later.
I don't mind them, but I'm sure I recall Bendis saying both they and Kitty would get new costumes?
Kitty should dress like she does in Ultimate comics.
wait, when was First Class supposed to have taken place?
I like Kitty's current outfit, but that I wouldn't mind at all.
so keen to see the new outfits :D kitty's especially. She NEEDS an update, shes practically using a student costume when she's a teacher now!
do you think theyll all still have matching ones, or unique ones? or a mix of both? like theyll be differant from eachother but with the same black and yellow colour scheme.

Yes, I agree! I like her ultimate outfit too
I just don't get how people can look at this
and see anything at all wrong with these outfits!
if anything, they're almost too perfect..

They look outdated.
They were promised new costumes in All New X-Men right? Has that happened yet? Because I honestly can't see a difference if they did...
Still waiting for the promised Costume Changes.
Makes me think they didn't change the costumes...

Hey bro Im with you, i love those costumes so im good with it. It also makes sense that they would were the outfits they had with them, at least to me.
I also just since we on the subject of outdated outfits, i loved the old different Color X Fits

by what possible measurement could they be outdated? They're like a leather jacket or a pair of Chuck's: timeless!
Functional and stylish.. Kirby got it right the first time.

That's my favorite Marvel girl outfit right there, though I preferred the blue and red one for the Beast.

Their big goofy boots and gloves :P Nearly all Marvel heroes wear tight fitting outfits or semi civilian clothes now with Cap being the exception because being old fashion is kinda the point for him. Angel stood out like a sore thumb in the most recent Uncanny X-Men.

I'm glad to not be the only guy who still likes the X-Factor suits.
What happened to changing the costumes!?
Didn't Bendis say he was going to do that!?
Yeah, issue #9's description says their new costumes were debuting that issue...but it never happened.

What a liar!
@papad1992: Bendis said that they got pushed back. I forget the reason he gave, but he did address that.

Did it have anything to do with the 50th anniversary? It would make sense to wait for that to unveil new, lasting changes (in my opinion).
@akbogert: Not sure. It's highly possible.

When is the 50th anniversary?
@arturocalakayvee: You'll find this article useful, I think.
@arturocalakayvee: I think in either August or September.

Outdated, like heros from 10+ years ago (in-universe time)? They are pre-time versions of classic characters, remember.

Oh duh, I totally knew the 50th Anniversary was around the time they're doing Battle of the Atom. I totally forgot about the cross over lol, thanks, the article kickstarted my memory.

haha! that's super true!
I guess it would have to be given the topic of the thread :P

I know, but its different than mine so its wrong. Nah, what I mean is you seem pretty staunch in your opinion tht these costumes are outdated. I'm saying that they're suppossed to be.
I wonder if Wolverine is getting a costume change the same time as the original X-Men and Kitty, because of his super cool Age of Ultron look.
alright, first those awful First Class outfits, and now this? What do you have against belts, Teerack?
Is there some problem with preserving the illusion that they could ever go to the bathroom, or what?
I only want one thing for their new costumes... Bring back Cyclops' visible hair!
now I gotta get off this thread. I'm having a head in hand moment over here..
@akbogert: yes.
@oldnightcrawler: the only thing more ironic is that the book filled with the old versions of old characters is called "All-New." It's uncanny. Meanwhile Uncanny X-Men features a handful of all-new characters..

haha, yeah. The only thing I can think is that, at some point the "O5" will return to their timeline and the book will go on to be either
A.) actually about the newer characters at the school, or
B.) a sort of reboot of the "O5" back in their own timeline, now that they have knowledge of this future (creating a new, alternate version). It's been said that Xavier will just mind-wipe them as soon as they return, but even if that is the case, even Xavier having knowledge of our timeline is bound to change things.
@oldnightcrawler: Spider-Man doesn't have a belt and his suit look like one piece but it's a shirt and pants. This could be the same. Honestly I just think the nearly all black color scheme is cool. I never liked yellow wolverine, and if marvel won't make him brown again then this is as good as it's gonna get.
And Super heroes are like girls! We don't talk about them going to the bathroom >:[

Spiderman's outfit actually has a utility belt (with his Spider-spotlight, camera, film, and web cartridges), but it's under his shirt.
I do agree that Wolverine's classic brown costume was infinitely better than his classic yellow, but I still prefer his current one for the simple reason that it does away with the outside underpants (and those ridiculous shoulder-pads he had in the 90's) .
This one still has a lot of yellow, but I like the alterations that make it reference a modified version of an X-men uniform, since he's sort of an ambassador for the school. And that utility belt looks boss.
@oldnightcrawler: I know Spidey has a belt under his suit I just meant more the belt isn't part of the costume design.
If they added that belt to the black suit I think it would be cool as hell.
I've always liked the X-Men Mythos take on the costumes. Mainly because I've always liked how honest and up-front the original uniforms were with no attempts to be overly sexy or look too hard. They looked like they'd actually give you some protection in the field and utility was the priority versus looking good.

sure, but it still at least implies that it's the bottom of his shit, and not just some ridiculous onesy.

That's how I imagine them, I guess. Black leather for durability, with masks to hide their identities (because they were teenagers), and yellow to identify each other in complex combat situations (the bright color being especially helpful to Cyclops). Whether it was that well thought out by Kirby or not, it still just makes a lot of sense.
I also always admired later versions that took the strengths and weaknesses of different characters into consideration. Consider that Cyclops' later costume's (especially his John Cassaday one), were mostly black for stealth, since he has no more durability than a normal human, whereas tougher characters like Wolverine or Colossus had brighter costumes, making them better targets to draw fire away from the less physically durable characters.
