Xeron says:
"That's because it's the only good x-book that comes once a month. Astonishing X-men is constantly pushed back."
Other X-Books are good: Legacy, X-Force and Uncanny are good. New X-Men was great.
Depending on one's tastes, it is a toss up between X-Factor and Astonishing. They are both very well written books, but in two very different styles. PAD's gritty character studys and wierdness and Whedon's Bronze Age Super Hero Old School.
PAD has done an amazing job, even better than his first run at X-Factor back in the 1990's, and created something truly unique in the X-verse. His stories are nicely twisted and delightfully 5 to 45 degrees off kilter. His dialog is a joy to read, and he knows to develop a plot over time. His pacing a great. His character devlopment is fantastic. He is the only writer to develop Jamie, and develop him into a very interesting leading man, despite Jamie first appearing in 1975. After Rictor was depowered, PAD made him into a hero! An interesting hero! He also "gets" Rhane and Terry, which few do. I don't know anyone who could have done with Lyla what he did And his recent redemption of Pietro was masterful and such fun to read!
(Uncanny is the worst title of X-Verse right now.)

Firstly, Astonishing X-Men is no longer that great, and Uncanny X-Men and Young X-Men are poor.
"Granted i've only read 2 issues of legacy, but they bored me ]="I'm a Carey fan so I liked it and I would say that it's better than having a leather clad woman with a whip, lashing a former Hellion :P.
"....i can't believe i said "bored me"Well Charles's polished dome was enough to hook me on the book, as well as the good story.anyway, i agree....Plus there was a major lack of Emma Frost so that's why i had to put it down."

I agree, but Stroman's art is really killing it for me."

He's off with issue 37: the person who did the Layla one-shot is taking over."
Yep that's the chap.
I think he also did the Only Game in town arc: to me it's very similar to Raimondi's art.

The art got good again and I think it brought the story back too. Last issue was the first I liked since before Messiah CompleX I think.
I completely agree with what everyone is saying about the art. X-Factor is by far my favorite X book but the up til recently it was almost painful to read.

"The one-shots were excellent. Better than the ongoing at the time they came out, I thought."
"i stopped reading before longshot joined.Yeah, the pace has picked up since.
it slowed down major for me"

Jamie's awesome.
Though, the last couple of issues have focused more on other characters."

I'll pick it back up after something groundbreaking happens. It's shelved for now"
"darn yeah, add them to the list.
Astonishing is so infrequent with it's publishing that i forget it even exist. And Legacy has been Wolverine/Xavier centered so it's forgettable as well."
"you don't get young x-men?
and Infernus is a must have...Mercury is in it"
"it's getting better, i like it. and it has Dust...one of the more unique X-characters of today.
I thought that'd change your mind"
"i know...gotta see how that story ends.I hope she doesn't die.
She's on the team."
"nor do i. there's no other character remotely similar to her currently and i like her because of that.Plus she has a cool power.
nope..Rockslide and mercury...and Pixie of course"
"why saturday?"That's my new comic shop stop day.
"why even buy it, might as well just read spoilers if you're getting it so late"
