    Wonder Woman

Character » Wonder Woman appears in 8808 issues.

The Amazon princess, blessed with god-like super abilities, Wonder Woman is one of Earth's most powerful defenders of peace, justice, and equality and a member of the Justice League. She is considered an archetype for many heroines outside of comic book. Her initial origin depicted her as a clay baby brought to life by patron goddess Aphrodite, but in recent years she has been depicted as the daughter of Zeus and Amazon queen Hippolyta.

This is small but in the JL comic does anyone else love how she's always carrying a sword around now? She never did before but now that she does it just seems to go with the look and makes it epic.

Nope, I totally disagree. I think a sword caries the same threatening presence as a gun and is an element that she never needed to define her as Wonder Woman. Her weapon should be the lasso.

I feel that ever since she killed Maxwell Lord every creative team has been trying to redefine her as Xena Warrior Princess and not the unique character that she is.

If I ever get a change to work on Wonder Woman the Sword will be the first thing to go.

@Press Oblivion: I know right. At least she doesn't in her own comic. I like when WW uses her sword for really big events only nothing less.

I don´t know guys, I like the sword. But your right it shouldn´t be overused. I like when she has weapons or armor that she brings out. I also like the warrior element to WW, but just not the way its being written currently. Rucka and Simone made it work; she wasn´t like Cena at all in those runs, but everything since has been awful.

Is this a sign that you're going for it now? :)

@jphulk26: Agreed. I just don't want her using it in every fight or alot of them. I like the sword case though.

I would love to work for DC illustrating but I don't think they're interested. Anyway, a sword less Wonder Woman is the WOnder Woman for me

It's cool that you like the sword, I just miss certain aspects of the character and her reliance more on the lasso is one of the things that is missing for me.

I think the sword works at times, but is unnecessary for all the time. It was used well in For Tomorrow for instance.

The lasso is far less threatening, far more unpredictable, and greatly underestimated by the opposition. I feel that it's value is being dismissed in this new era of DC and I would like to see that she has a personal code in regards to the preservation of life. A sword is the antithesis of that ideal.
