    Wonder Woman

Character » Wonder Woman appears in 8719 issues.

The Amazon princess, blessed with god-like super abilities, Wonder Woman is one of Earth's most powerful defenders of peace, justice, and equality and a member of the Justice League. She is considered an archetype for many heroines outside of comic book. Her initial origin depicted her as a clay baby brought to life by patron goddess Aphrodite, but in recent years she has been depicted as the daughter of Zeus and Amazon queen Hippolyta.

Is she nerfed in Justice League stories?

I notice she portrayed as very powerful in every book except for JL books. I have seen her fight characters like Rama Khan, Nekron, Zeus, Ares, etc. She seems pretty powerful in her own book during most of her runs. It doesn't seem like she is fighting to the best of her abilities in JL arcs.

Superman, that's why. It's always Wonder Woman that gets the short end of the stick when they need to differentiate them and/or keep Superman special. That's probably why her costume is grey and brown (ish) why she was stripped of the ability to fly and why she was retooled into a swashbuckling brute that revels in war. To some degree, it's all because of him

@somayareece: It's hard to have a lot of feats in a book where a writer has to write 7 characters at the same time.

I would agree with this ... and it's even harder to make one stand out when you consider SM, Flash, GL, CM, and Martian Manhunter are among the most powerful heroes in DC so they have to try and balance it out. It's tricky to make a threat powerful enough for the whole League that later might only fight one of them in a solo book without nerfing pretty much the entire League. Diana looked far more competent in the last JL issues while fighting Grail, but CM and Flash both looked like chumps.

What about Shazam, who is essentially equal to Superman, save for magic based? Much like Wonder Woman, actually. Wouldn't he also be to blame?

And even Superman seems somewhat nerfed, compared to a lot of his solo action.

@scouterv: Shazam is underutilized, also because of Superman.

So neither Shazam nor Wonder Woman are the cause of the other being underutlized? I mean, it would just seem like, being so close in power, you'd think Shazam and Wonder Woman would also have some conflict in terms of use.

@scouterv: Well since Wonder Woman is second in command maybe she hurts Shazam a little, perhaps they should move him to a different team.

Shazam isn't as powerful as he used to be from what I remember. remember. As a matter of fact, I haven't seen him do anything impressive and Superman towers over the team in power. He was able to take out Hal and Barry without too much trouble. Superman is basically on a pedestal in the New 52.

This right here. Shazam has very little feats in the New 52 and seems to be much weaker than either Diana or Clark. Here's to hoping we get an Earth 5 book someday so we can get the real Captain Marvel back...

Nah, she impressed me the most out of any JL member (referring to New 52, or whatever it's called now).
