In terms of brute strength, Supergirl will surpass her eventually. But in combination with skill, Wonder Woman may be the top female. Maxima and Barta are up there too though.

This is an old thread, but this is my take on that...

POWER GIRL is relatively weaker in terms of lifting strength compared to WW, but she inflicts more damage (it's like a boxer compared to a weight lifter thing)

SUPER GIRL is like Superman, but a female version. So it is safe to assume she's a tad bit weaker compared to Superman in lifting. But she has extra range powers that WW lacks.

MAXIMA is weaker than WW PG and SG, but she uses her psionic powers to add on to her damages and her lifting ability so she can match Superman or any other strong entities.

BARDA she may be around Maxima's lifting strength level but her Fighting Ability is equal to WW

WONDER WOMAN is strong, greater than Capt. Marvel who possess the strength of Hercules (don't get me started with the add on power of Zeus, it's nothing more than his ability to call upon the thunderbolt. Superman sometimes gets trashed by CM coz of his vulnerability to magic. WW and CM collided head on in War of the Gods and CM ended up reverting to his Billy Batson) her lifting strength would probably be pounds less than Superman. So it's like every girl can boast there own strengths but WW can beat both PG and SG by fighting skill, beat Barda with more strength and speed, Maxima can beat WW if she can use her Psionics early in the game, but she's fighting brutish like PG most of the time so eventually WW can outdo her. WW is still Alpha Female to date :D

By the way, I love all the super strong women of DC including Rampage, Mary Marvel, Donna Troy, Wonder Girl

It's really not stupid writing. I think, the truest answer to the question of this thread is no. Diana is not the strongest DCU female, even though many (myself included) think she should be. Occasionally, a writer will put her on equal footing with characters like Superman, but generally it doesn't happen. I think writers have a hard time writing her. For example, whats the point of her having the bullet proof bracelets if her whole body is bullet proof and why have an invisible plane if you can fly?

She, certainly more than most iconic characters, has gone through a large multitude of revisions. She went though years of having almost no more strength and durability than a normal human. She hasn't "generally" been written as the strongest female after COIE or ZH or so far in the DCnU (although, from right before IC till the DCnU she was written, if not as the most powerful female at DC, certainly at the top).

Sooo.....yeah, every now again she is, but not usually.

@Onemoreposter: I'm not disputing that she's the strongest, she's definitely one of the strongest in both the male and female rosters of the DCU. Inconsistency in writing her can best be resolved if the writers would have thoroughly researched her feats and abilities first before actually putting her in a situation which will depict her or the story being absurd. Everybody knows she's not bulletproof hence the bracelets, but what good are those bracelets if she can't block bullets. Surely being able to deflect high calibre and high speed guns effortlessly, will make deflecting a bullet from a pistol even if the one firing it is her equal very sensible. All her life she was trained to do that, even without thinking, her muscle memory would surely come into play.

It's probably easier is she gets her ass whooped by stronger opponents than seeing her not deflecting a bullet, her trademark action :D

we have not seen much of her strength level in the new 52.the previous incarnation puts her as the most powerful female and 2nd strongest overall.remember the blackest night mini series where the sun was eaten and superman lost his power ,she became the most powerful person on the planet.remember that storyline in action comics 10 yrs ago when diana and kal fought 1000 years in asgard,in the beging of that story he came to her to let her know that he was going off planet and that she was earths number 1 line of defense .not to mention that whole strength and power as that of the earth itself gift from demeter.the coolest thing,she keeps that level of power no matter what.regardless if under a yellow or red sun or not...;-)

I was under the impression that in the future, Kara will be even stronger than Kal. I mean, the only thing that puts him above her is his experience. He's been under the yellow sun longer, has had more time to master and hone his abilities, and has much more battle experience.
