I don't like the yellow and blue because Wolverine is supposed to be this feral predator in the dark forest. How can a predator hunt if it is yellow and blue. Not even dark blue, just blue. It doesn't make any sense. Imagine Batman with a yellow and blue costume. How's he supposed to sneak up all predator like in such a stand-out costume?
Wolverine
Character » Wolverine appears in 16062 issues.
A long-lived mutant with the rage of a beast and the soul of a Samurai, James "Logan" Howlett's once mysterious past is filled with blood, war, and betrayal. Possessing an accelerated healing factor, keenly enhanced senses, and bone claws in each hand (along with his skeleton) that are coated in adamantium; Wolverine is, without question, the ultimate weapon.
why does everyone hate Wolverine's Yellow and Blue costume?
I know it's two months old, but to respond to that, the Batman thing doesn't work because he's the "God Damn Batman". He could wear a sweater with "Hello Kitty" pasted on the front, wearing a pink skirt and rainbow colored socks while blasting "Eye of the Tiger" out of loudspeakers attached to his chest while riding around on rocket boots, firing off fireworks in every direction and you still wouldn't know he was sneaking up on you. He's just that good.
Oh no. The eye patch was the coolest from back in his Madripoor days, when the X-Men were supposed to be dead and he needed to go dark.
His identity was oh so secret. Who would notice the mullet and sideburns? And everyone's 5' 3" with claws right?
I don't hate the yellow one. It's just like Mac pointed out in Wolverine #144 yellow and blue aren't exactly the colors that spring to mind when you think of a wolverine. But it's classic, and now these colors do spring to mind when you talk about Wolvie :)

A pair of glasses works for superman :P.
@god_spawn: You could argue that Superman doesn't have any distinctive attributes like one foot long claws coming out of his hands...
Yeah, Ahhhhh ah, you know what it is......Blue and Yellow....Blue and Yellow....Blue and Yellow....Blue and Yellow......

Cause Logan isn'tswedish.
They have the same colors.
Haha...I'll have to remember this one....
Is this a thing? This thread is literally the only indication I've ever seen of any kind of wide spread hate for the look.

I don't know if I would call it hated exactly, its his classic look, but it is sometimes panned for being to......well, flamboyant, and is often left out of animated shows, movies obviously and even the comics.
I have never liked it too much being the X-Men and especially Wolverine are always usually going somewhere they don't belong or breaking into somewhere anyways, it is more logical they would have more stealth, dark colors in their outfits...though in comics the colors have to be bright and vibrant to attract readers....although now of days that strategy doesn't seem as prominent.
@cattlebattle: Actually the real whole reason for the color scheme as well as his existence at all is because Len Wein had a deadline and happened to be a fan of the Michigan state Wolverines whose colors happen to be the blue and gold.
Blue and yellow looks funny but I grew up with it so it's my default look. I like the black grey of the X force team as well.

People really need to learn what "everyone" means.
The Internet Definition: People I disagree with.
Real Life Definition: Everyone.

I just prefer street clothes on characters usually. Unless it works, and Wolverine's spandex doesn't work for me.
me too, street clothes makes him look cool and relaxed, not some odd looking pansy, not calling wolvie a pansy in his costume but street clothes suite's him best.
I saw Wolverine in the yellow blue costume so I find that better, also waiting to see his costume on the big screen
I've always liked it best because those are the X-Men team colors and Wolverine is part of the team plain and simple. I know that not all of the X-Men wear the the team colors, and Wolverine has never really been all that much of a team player himself, but he's got to have some bit of loyalty to them to still put on the team colors.
Because when they switched back to the yellow and blue outfit they regressed Logan's character. That's when the loooong downfall of Wolverine began. He stopped being a nuanced and relatively well-rounded, thoughtful character and devolved into an idiot with claws. Nevermind the fact that yellow and blue is ridiculous and stands out like a sore thumb. And since I grew up reading the early 80's X-Men and Wolverine mini series, I'm biased towards the brown and orange
Because it looks stupid on a guy who is supposed to be a bad a@#*. Is he supposed to be Tony the Tiger? The return of that costume (in the early 90's) represents everything wrong with the character. He went from being someone interesting, to just another mixed up psycho. But I guess it sells, so whatever......
I don't hate his yellow and blue costume, I hate his NEW black and red 2018 costume!!! It looks like he stole it from Wonderman's closet.
I love the blue and yellow. It is my favorite costume in all of comics. Wolverine is my all time fave so I am bias. I hate his new look. It looks like a half assed chef's coat. I hope it doesn't last.
The yellow and blue costume can often look very weird or silly looking. If you read Wolverine's early appearances, even Dave Cockrum had him looking strange. It's no wonder that John Byrne redesigned it to the brown and tan version. There's only a small handful of artists that made the classic yellow look good. Jim Lee and Adam Kubert come to mind. His newer yellow costume from Astonishing X-Men didnt have the same problem, but I still wasn't a fan. Don't hate it, though.
wow...I actually always liked it. I thought the yellow and blue one was the original costume for so long until somebody told me he used to wear brown.
To me the yellow and blue one will always be his classic suit
@itouchedtheboat: The yellow and blue is the original costume.
@itouchedtheboat: The yellow and blue is the original costume.
hey I guess you're right. I guess I only thought the Brown one was the original because in one of the old video games they titled the Brown and yellow suit as the 'classic' suit
It's an ugly costume and we have the overrated Jim Lee to thank for it. Back when he was over exerting his influence on the 1990's X Books he changed Wolverine's look back to what he mistakenly believed was a John Byrne design. Lee was wrong; Byrne had redesigned the costume in the early 80's to the far superior brown and orange.
Thankfully, Hickman is in charge of the X Books now and recognizes that a variation on that redesign is best. Because why would the toughest tough guy alive wear yellow and blue (as Logan said during Grant Morrison's run, "now I don't have to dress like a clown")
