Could a 'Wolverine Family' work.

Wolverine is a character known for writers who seem to think there are a hundred different Wolverine's. He's a savage. He's a soldier. He's a hero. He's a villain. He's a beer guzzler. He's a murderer. He's a role model. He's a devout lover. He's one of Stark's playboy competitors.

Yet also, he is known for having many female companions, of a young female nature that are not put in refrigerators or lovers.

More like adopted daughters. Sort of like how Bruce sort ends up adopting half of Gotham's young heroes

Batman has a history of a Batfamily, but could Wolverine build his own?

What does the Batfamily have

Batman is a lot of older than Wolverine, and by the time the first arguable Wolvie kid, Kitty Pryde, was around, Batman had graduated one kid (Dick Grayson), led another to die and have massive grief (Jason Todd), had the old mentor guy (Alfred), and soon crippled the daughter (Barbara Gordon)

Over time, we added Tim Drake, Cassandra Cain, Stephaine Brown and Damian Wayne. Catwoman unofficially came up as a sort of mother figure (because its either her or Talia), and that's just my view of the core family.

You can call Batwoman, Huntress and the others extended relations.

Each member of the family plays with the strengths and weaknesses of one another. They all have helped one another grow. Dick became a hero arguably better than Batsy. Jason became cool. Tim became Batman's equal. Damian gives the prodigal sons a position of maturity. Barbara became something more than a super heroine after her tradgedy. Cassandra learnt to speak and gained a family. Stephanie.....well she's there.

Sorry, don't have anything on her.

Wolverine family

What does Wolverine have?

You have Kitty, who stands somewhere between Dick and Barbara

Jubilee is like Tim and Stephanie mixed together.

X-23 is a Cassandra Damian smoothie

Daken is Jason Todd with no good qualities

I don't know what to call Armor, Rogue, Idie, or the other arguable Wolvie kids.

You have Xavier as a vaguely grandfathery guy, or did anyway...

And for Momma Wolvie...well Jean is still dead and Mariko doesn't come back

Should Marvel try to better make a Wolvie family? Can they even use the pieces to do so? Does Wolverine even deserve one.

No wait....the haters probably want him to suffer like images one ad three.

Only if none are allowed to grow into their own, have their own opinions/disagree. Otherwise I tend to think they'd be dead by his hand. At least batman's kids manage to make it out alive to grow

@Dayvid3: Except Jason Todd. Wait.

I guess I'm not completely sure what you're asking. I think despite massive differences, Laura (the only of the "family" with which I'm familiar enough to comment) already suffers from being compared constantly to Logan. Any attempt to make that connection more overt would simply increase the frequency of those erroneous complaints, and it wouldn't make any sense from her perspective. So while that doesn't set the pattern for others, it generally puts me against the idea of emphasizing those bonds.

I'm not sure why poor JPV is not considered a part of the Batfamily,he's more family than Huntress and Batwoman that's for sure.

@entropy_aegis: Well, there was that whole kerfuffle where he went insane and tried to kill Bruce, Dick and Tim :)

Batwoman is actually supposed to be a distant cousin of Bruce, I remember reading something about the Wayne and Kane families being related somehow. Huntress' only connection to the Batclan was sleeping with Dick once. Kick Helena out and replace her with Jean-Paul.

Ah memories, still he departed on good terms and did become Batman, also he was allowed in the cave.I would like to see Kate interact with the Bat clan more.

Many of the "Wolverine Family" are outright terrible characters, the trope of having a young female sidekick is way overdone and tired.

"Awesome article" is all I wanted to say, don't have much to add or enhance, or contribute to the conversation taking place in the comments. I've truly enjoyed and admired your writing style, what you had done with the information you have and how you've interpreted it, and I hopefully will have the time and focus to read this and your other works again justly. This is absolute gold, So as to not play up too much, I am going to say that it should have been had in the "You have Xavier as a vaguely grandfathery guy, or did anyway...". Still, thanks a lot for this one, I never knew Nightwing was considered better than the Batman.

Well, you have to admit, Steph doesn't really add anything to the Bat family. She's basically an average teen girl who forced herself into the clan. Her intellect and skills are average, and while Steph is gutsy, so is practically every other hero out there.

I actually like the idea, but I see X-23 more as the little sister who looks upto and is constantly compared to her big brother. Jubilee, in my opinion, is the only orphan who can clame to be or be accepted as Logan's foster child... Then again he adopted Amiko... Daken is the problem child who could try and influence Erista, who could also be influenced by Dog, the brother who enjoys ruining Logan's life. Poor Erista won't be able to meet his real dad, but will have to settle for Old-man Logan. Lolz! Avery Conner seems to be forgotten... Sabretooth could be the frenimy who wants everything Logan has... The Hudson's could be extanded family like they are, but I would like their kid to have powers like Wolverine and his kids which will draw her to them... Deadpool and his family could be part of the mix aswell cause his kid might develop lupine-like powers aswell, I meen Deadpool has the Hudson DNA in him... O, btw remember The Native/Feral she was pregnant with Logans's baby and when he got to her corpse her belly was flat and cut open. Remind you of someone. Duh! Daken...

The Wolfish Vanity

Wolverine is definitely unique in his satisfying control of primal instincts, and seeing how these instincts would be manifest in his relatives and loved ones would seem to take the sting out of some of his bite --- i.e., imagining a wolfish mutant with claws suddenly fishing with wolf-claw boy (Wolverine, Jr.).

In fact, Wolverine is unique in his predatory appearance and can be compared to only a handful of other folkloric/art/pulp avatars such as Cyclonus (a sly hunter robot from the Transformers A.I. fantasy-adventure franchise) and Deadpool (a wily and unpredictable rogue cop and vigilante in the Marvel universe).

For such reasons, I think Wolverine would be well-matched with a female mutant superhuman such as Rogue, but I think their kids should be more like Rogue than Wolverine.

Cyclonus
