The Wendigo lies in wait as Wolverine returns to his old stomping grounds at a Weapon X facility.
Wolverine resumes his quest of self-rediscovery to determine just what it is he "is the best at" and to help him clear his mind, sorting through recent events. He treks solo through the woods of northern Canada, finding himself drawn to the abandoned Weapon X facility where he was experimented upon years earlier.
Meanwhile, miles to the north, a Wendigo stalks the forest and the spirit that inhabits the creature senses the return of a familiar enemy. It howls and then heads south.
Although the Weapon X facility is deserted, intrusion detection systems are still active and being monitored by the Canadian military. Wolverine sneaks past these safeguards to enter the building. Soon, he comes upon the tank he had once been immersed within. As he recalls the tortures he'd suffered there, the Wendigo bursts in through the wall to viciously attack him. Caught nearly completely by surprise, Wolverine suffers severe wounds before he is able to fight back, but the monster continues to maul him.
Seeking respite, Wolverine ducks into the basement level. He tries to tend to his wounds, binding his injuries with a flag he finds. He also discovers a Hummer which he climbs into and guns through a closed garage door. He slams into the Wendigo, but the swift creature leaps onto the vehicle's roof, trying to smash through it. The assault forces Wolverine to crash and he is thrown from the Hummer.
The Wendigo sets upon him again, grasping him in a bone-crushing bear hug. Although his claws have not yet fully healed since Sabretooth snapped them off, Wolverine extends the stubs and rakes the Wendigo's face. The creature runs off into the woods, howling in pain, while Wolverine succumbs to his grievous injuries and collapses.
