Wildfire, whose adventures started in Smash Comics in 1941 and lasted a year, appeared to be a kind of elemental fire creature. Artist Jim Mooney, just out of art school, patterned her after his first wife, who had long red hair, but he added little flames which rose from her forehead in place of bangs.

"Given the power of flames by the god of fire," Wildfire is able to create and control fire.

In Smash Comics no. 36, Wildfire is shown giving a container of fire, which resembles a glorified cigarette lighter, to a little boy. She tells him that he can use it when he needs to call her.

The character would not appear until JLA: Destiny where the Quality characters appeared as heroes or villains. This character was loosely based off her Quality character.
