If you haven't heard by now BOP is back. For weeks now we've gotten to see the amazing cover by Ed Benes, and with Gail Simone back for her second tour of duty, expectations are high. Let me start off by saying the first issue was badass. The story flows while the art is everything you could hope for from a Benes inked issue. But I'll let the pro's do the review, cause all I care about is the ending. Now if you haven't read the issue and plan to then I suggest you turn away now ;)
Skipping to the end, Canary faces off against someone calling themselves the " White Canary." If you read the captions you'll see who she thinks it could be ;)
Shiva or Cass? Holy sh!t I hope so
And here is a better look . So who do you think it is? Gail already said she'd be creating some new villains for the BoP to face off against, so its possible its neither Cain or Shiva. What about Sin? Could it possibly (somehow and unlikely) be Canary's adopted daughter? She was groomed to be the next Shiva after all. So, any other guesses or speculation? Whoever she is I like the look, and she's got serious skills.
All the summaries of the issue say its a "new villain" but I'm not buying it. Although she does refer to herself in the third person, which Shiva and Cass have never done. But both have been away for awhile so who knows where their minds are at. If she is new I'll be adding her to my favs list. (what if its Shiva's dead sister? that would be sick lol)
@Gambler: you know I thought of the sister, but that would kind of ruin Shivas guts and balls IMO, if it is a new character then AWESOME NEW LOOK FOR SURREAL ;)
The way she addressed Black Canary leads me to believe it's Shiva. I don't think Cassandra Cain has ever really learned Chinese, has she? If it isn't Shiva, it could be someone new...which is intriguing, Black Canary's dialogue suggests that she's a better fighter than Shiva.
@.Mistress Redhead.: I think if Shiva's sister returned it would be great for her character development. There would be so many different possibilities. They could form the foundation of a powerhouse family that would rival the Ghuls. Both Woosan's, Cass, Marque, and David Cain....that would be badass.

Its possible, but she was around Cass' age then. She's had years and years and years to become who (and what) she is now. I dont know if even her sister returning could change her personality at this point. But either way I think it would be interesting to find out.

Thats what I was thinking as well. If she is new, she's possibly better then Shiva? How $#@!ing badass is that? As far as Cain not knowing Chinese, I dont recall her ever speaking it before. But then again she's been out of the picture for awhile. It could be explained that she was in Asia all that time and learned it then. Dont know though. I cant wait for the next ish

I just thought that after looking at the spoiler Shiva's sister had the same potential as Shiva before she died and it could also lead to some great Shiva, Cassie and Cain stories in the future.

I'm not a big fan of Cassandra as a villain, though. When she left the Batgirl mantle in the hands of Stephanie, she was on the right side, I can't think of a reason for her to flip the script, though.

Yeah, dont think that was China though, I believe it was somewhere in the Middle East. I was thinking more along the lines of it being explained that after giving up the Batgirl mantle and disappearing, that she traveled to China and learned the language then. Thats just a possible explination for Cass being able to speak Chinese (if it turns out to be her). I'm kind of liking the idea of it being someone new. As much as I love Shiva I think its important to create new badass characters.
I like that idea but it'll be interesting to see how they deal with the age thing. She's like 10 and the White Canary (at least artistically) looks much older.
hmm... between shiva and cass, i was leaning more towards cass but now that you bring up the sister she makes more sense villian wise but my question is what does she want with the birds? and also is anyone still hasn't seen this yet in this sirens cover the letters highlight are cain which leads me to believe that cass with comeback as a villian.

Holy sh!t lol. Good eye on the "Cain" thing. Not sure if it means she'll comeback as a villain though, it could simply mean she'll be appearing in GCS. Her previous stint as a villain was not well received (although I thought it was tight). That hidden Cain message is badass, hope its not just a coincidence.
