    Treading Water ... Voodoo style.

Well, for the past two months this book has begun to tread water. After an entertaining start to the series we have now seen it crawl to a turtle's pace.

Like last issue, nothing much happens this go-around. There's plenty of fighting but it's all rather mindless. We get plenty of panels dominated by these nameless troopers that have escorted "good" Priscilla to Europa and they only manage to help weigh the book down. It's as if anyone will remember any of these guys when this series is done so it gets a little frustrating having them take up so much of the past two issues. However, by the end of the book both Voodoos managed to finally make it inside the mountain to find the secret Daemonite "weapon" ... sadly for us it took two months for them to do so with little else really happening during the adventure. Confrontation and conclusion await us next issue! I'm guessing these two will somehow merge into one being ... but we'll see.

When its all said and done, I think we all feel pretty confident that Voodoo will end up in Wildcats at some point down the road. At least this time she'll be a cold blooded, shape shifting melee master instead of a rather helpless girl always being protected by Spartan. Not only will she easily replace herself as a much better character in a Wildcats reboot, but she'll also replace Warblade since she can do anything he did and do it better! Two birds with one character! I say that spells victory for this volume's run in the long haul.

This issue could be summed up easily enough as formulaic but fun. Unfortunately the creative team is working against the clock here. The next issue will be the last for this series other than the Zero issue, so the team here has the daunting task it seems of speeding up at least a year's worth of plot into a couple of issues. This makes for the same oversimplifications of storytelling and relying more on visuals to fill in the pieces. What it does end up doing though is doing this in at least a ...

The Voodoo covers have been so bland and generic lately that this is actually one of the better ones. But also, what's up with Priscilla's DISCO PANTS?Wow, so, last issue I made an offhanded joke about some of the Black Razors being 'redshirts?' Well it's been taken literally, as we have some in armor with red lines, and some with armor that has purple lines. Guess which group is the only one to have casualties?Williamson FINALLY, and too late, decides to take a cue from Ron Marz's book and tie ...
