According to Futurama, the whole point of the secret identity thing is so they don't get sued for property damage.

But then, Superman would need a good lawyer to get Lex Luthor to pay child support for Superboy. (Come on, you were thinking that too!)

Also, first.

Yes. I can buy into the property damage thing. Most superheroes are shockingly irresponsible, so I appreciate it when writers/heroes take the amount of casualties and property damage into account when they are fighting super-villains.

According to Futurama, the whole point of the secret identity thing is so they don't get sued for property damage.

But then, Superman would need a good lawyer to get Lex Luthor to pay child support for Superboy. (Come on, you were thinking that too!)

yes they most certainly would(see "The Law Of Superheroes", Gotham Books, 2012) from everything to property damage to unnecessary/deadly force!

They had best keep them on speed dial!

Not even sure how people can sue an urban legend though.

Marvel heroes do, since they're not actually secretive about their identities.

1 if superman needed a team of laywers Bruce wayne can and probably would finance it can those laywers beat Luther's maybe but Luthers past incidents could help in that department. Most heros can either afford legal assitance, know someone who would pay for it and/or are Laywers themselves

I like to see the day when Charles Soule has Jennifer Walters defend Peter Parker for all the damage that Otto (has caused while he hijack his body) as Spider-Man, meaning that he supplied Spider-Man with the tools that nearly destroyed NYC. Jennifer helps Peter out of this situation in exchange he pays for her services by having several dating engagements. If Jennifer is happy whiles their dates, she'll waive her fees that she's billed him in the tune of $2.5 Million, which might take him a long time to pay off, which is exactly what's she's counting on.
