This collection of the V for Vendetta series was originally compiled in 1990, but has been reprinted at least fourteen times, and so when the Vertigo label came into existence, the collection changed over to the "mature" imprint and has been a Vertigo title ever since.
In October 2012, the trade was re-released in combination with the Guy Fawkes mask used by V. While they were inspired by V for Vendetta, in the culture of the time the mask is more often associated with the activist group Anonymous, featured in the documentary We Are Legion: The Story of the Hacktivists which was released to theaters the same month as the trade re-release. The book became very popular with the release of the 2006 film based on the comic book. V For Vendetta the graphic novel was seen in the animated movie in 2012 called Batman: The Dark Knight Returns at a convince store newsstand at the front door.
