The Lowest Point So Far
I'm just not getting anything out of this three issue story arc. When I bought these books twenty one years ago I was new to comics. It is a long story but beside characters like Guy Gardner, Blue Beetle and Booster Gold (Ironically enough) I didn't know many superheros that were not mainstays in the Superfriends TV cartoon. My father however remembered the old days of comics heroes he loved like Turok, Namor and few others.
So, I started buying books of heroes he recommended like Turok and Namor and I wanted to recapture the thrill he saw in these characters. I didn't really find it. I liked them well enough but didn't see what he saw. At least not at this point. This was a real low in the comic series and one of the times I considered dropping the series. Fortunately there were better more highs to come as well as lows but this was by far the worst so far in the series.
In an earlier review I remarked that this writer Timothy Truman was a better improvement than the past one David Michelinie in this series and I stand by that. All this being true however doesn't change the dullness of this three issue story arc. I could not stand the characters. Nug Spine-Breaker being among one of many awful ones. I also could not stand the story and especially how how it ended. Tiny Spoiler Alert. In the end the previously unseen Governor of Virginia shows up in the last few panels and turns the area were the (previously unknown by the main public) dinosaurs have been present into a hunting reserve. It just seemed silly, and it wasn't the only point in the ending that seemed silly. Side characters were just real bad stereotypes and everything was overly black and white and the weeping that went on just made the series and this book hoaky.
I would not recommend this book and it pains me to give it such a low rating. I only gave it two stars out of five. It was not the worst book I ever read but it was pretty bad. Thanks for reading my review.
