I didn't read his Detective Comics run but I really liked Battle for the Cowl so I was surprise people didn't like his writing.

I think they should make The Dark Knight to Detective Comics, since TDK has a new writer & I've been hearing good stuff about it.

Hopefully it will start getting good now. Batman: The Dark Knight improved dramatically when they changed the writer on that.

Just incase anyone comes here complaining that Superman needs a change without knowing about the creative change because Comicvine never wrote an article about it:

SCOTT LOBDELL IS WRITING SUPERMAN and KENNETH ROCAFORT IS DOING THE ART STARTING WITH THE ZERO ISSUE!

in my opinion, Greg Huritz should have taken over Detective, and the dark knight should have been cancelled. it doesnt make sense to have that many bat titles out anyways. who is reading dark knight...thats all im saying. i know it sells well but cmon people its not good, support a better book. that being said i hope that thy cancel dark knight and bring in a shazam book or keep the JLI.

I read on the solicit for detective comics#0 that Greg hurwitz will be writing the story for it, but I don't know if that means he'll be writing just issue 0 or if that means he'll be the new writer for the series and for TDK

Hope he sticks around as artist. I'm glad though, I like the Detective Comics brand and I want it to be a good book. Hopefully there will be 4 bat books worth getting every month now.

I am amazed at how aggressively DC is managing its line since the reboot. Amazing job DC. Hope the next writer is as good as Snyder, Tomasi, and Hurwitz.

Now if only they would fix Batman Inc (Kyle Higgins! hint, hint).

It would be nice if Morrison would at least pretend that there was a reboot of the DCnU and write his stories accordingly. What happened to every Batman story counts? Apparently that means obscure stories that most people want to forget, not current continuity.

I knew I would regret putting Justice League Dark and Stormwatch on my pull. I should have went with my first choices of Batman & Robin and Batman: The Dark Knight. Any who, this bad news for me I've really like (not love) Dectective Comics. I think your in the minority when it comes to your opinion on Morrison's Batman Stuff.

    @zackattack529:

Nobody's being more specific than "the writing sucks," so I will. Daniel should not have been doing the flagship Batman title because he has no conception of what Bats is like. At least a dozen times in each issue he showed Bruce/Bats getting nervous or outraged or vengeful and making mistakes because of that. This goes directly against everything Bruce has been practicing and preaching for thirty years now, and makes him much, much less than heroic.

Didn't he say for an interview for "Night of the Owls" that he has some long-term plans for this series? Anyway, not sad either, I had dropped this already because it was such a mess. Really interested to see who will replace him and if they are able to get more than one good Batman title going.

I actually enjoyed Daniels run with Detective comics. I mean it isn't my favorite DC comic nor is he my favorite writer of all time, but I enjoyed the feel of each book. I will be interested to see what he does after this.

I've found Daniels writing inconsistent, I've always hought he would be better servered having a situation like when Byrne and Claremont were co-plotting the X-men book, Claremont wrote, Byrne did the art and the book was terrific. and in the process Daniels could tighten up his writing skills.

A good run by Tony Daniel I say...personally for me he's just a far better artist than he is a writer. As for who should succeed him...gosh I'd really be interested in who that would be. In an ideal world I'd say that it should be the creative team of Dini/Nguyen again but I probably ask too much by wishing that.

Well i thought that the first 4 issues were good, but then the ones that followed seemed all over the place. Has anything been mentioned yet as of who's now taking on the writing duties for Detective? As that's the news that we all really want to hear now.

I would have liked him to stay on as the artist. But if he's doing other things that he's excited about, maybe the quality will be better.

Is it too much to hope that we've finally found a landing spot for Dan Jurgens? His art on Superman has been great recently.

Finally, this book has been so boring. I hope whoever takes over remembers the title while writing. Dectective comics should be about Batman solving crimes that only someone of his caliber can solve.
