The Thunderbolts were at one point a gang of radical militant African Americans that acted like thugs as an excuse to fight against the "White Man". Billy Carver a military veteran joined the group under false pretenses to take down the gang from the inside tipping off Matt Murdock and Foggy Nelson who was District Attorney at the time, this however caused his brother Lonnie Carver to lose faith in his brother as he believed he actually joined the gang. When Lonnie got hurt and lost the will to live it was up to Daredevil and the Black Panther to take down the the members they knew about, leaving the person behind the group to roam free.
