Thor Odinson is the All-father of Asgard /God of Thunder, offspring of All-Father Odin & Elder-Goddess Gaea. Combining the powers of both realms makes him an elder-god hybrid and a being of no perceivable limits. Armed with his enchanted Uru hammer Mjolnir which helps him to channel his godly energies. The mightiest and the most beloved warrior in all of Asgard, a staunch ally for good and one of the most powerful beings in the multiverse/omniverse. Thor is also a founding member of the Avengers.
How do YOU find Thor in the movies? are you happy in the way he has been portrayed? His strength? weakness if any shown? Role in avengers and own movie?
I personally think they have kept it all good and not the same, but close enough to the comics. what do YOU think?
As much as I love it, I understand that they can't make the movie with the exact same origin from the comics where he was banished to Earth as Donal Blake and all that stuff. And as much as I love the original costume, I don't think it would transfer well to the big screen. With that being said, I think it was done very well. They were able to keep enough or his original origin to make comic fans happy, but change it enough to make it done for people outside of comics.
I loved seeing him again in the Avengers. Other than that sleeveless costume at the beginning, the costumed remained well done. There were a few stupid moments of him however. Such as when Loki made one of those copies of himself on the Helicarrier. Shouldn't Thor of thrown his hammer in case it was a copy, where it could of just come back to him? That was a stupid moment. And one of those little things Loki had was able to take him down at Stark Tower?
Overall, I think he was done well, despite the stupid moments.
i'm still obsessed with THOR and the avengers. just wish they gave him a god damn helmet, and a costume SIMULAR to the comics/cartoons. chris has done really great with the character. LOKI has made the THOR movie and avengers movie more enjoyable.
I just hope to see more Odin, amora, beta ray bill and surtur in the future.
hope there can actually be a THOR/hulk movie. may sound crazy, but i want to see them go at it again.

I think Thor was portrayed well in both his movie and in the Avengers one and contrary to what others say -- The Hulk wasn't shown to beat Thor, their fight on the SHIELD's airship was never completed and the scene where Hulk punches Thor and sends him flying isn't indicative of Hulk being able to win over the Asgardian. The same would have happened should it have been Thor who randomly and without warning punched Hulk. Cute scene though.
If anything, Thor was shown to be incredibly under-powered. Showing him defeating the aliens on his own would have made for poor movie-viewing but him not flying is a large omission of the character's recognizable abilities in comic form..
I've never been a fan of Thor in the comics. After seeing him in the movies, I'm still not a big fan of his character. However, the fact that his movie appearances have managed to win over mainstream audiences is incredible and deserves to be commended. Especially the solo movie.
Hulk wasn't leagues above everyone else. He was the strongest. Thor put up a good fight with him. And while Hulk was the physically strongest, he was the weakest mentally. Thor was the most versatile.
But in all seriousness, not having any background knowledge to Thor (with the exception of EMH), I found Hemsworth to be quite a good Thor. And @Pyrogram they have also have to take some liberties to the character to appeal with the audience.
in the thor commentary i think they had stated: in the comics there were numerous ways in which THOR can teleport from place to place. so they chose the method of what you saw in the movie which was from the comics, which kind of makes sense.
Many people use the fact that Hulk defeated Loki in 3 seconds to say that Hulk was better than Thor. But what most people forget is the fact that when fighting against Thor, Loki has had the scepter; and when Loki fought against Hulk, he didn't had it. Loki was also probably stunned, for he did fell after the explosion of Hawkeye's arrow. Another point is that Thor was clearly holding back against both Iron Man and Loki. Thor also held back against the Hulk, he tried to talk with Banner but fight him.
TERRIBLE armor costume and can only blast people with lightning with his hammer.
Stupidest scene in the Thor movie was Thor needing Heimdall to teleport to Niffelheim.
That was inane writing, Thor's hammer already has the power of teleportation.
It'd be like if Superman goes to Batman and says"hey bruce let me borrow your x-ray goggles."
FALSE the its up forgrabs in the comics wether or not the hammer can teleport, the last time i recall seeing thor teleport using the hammer was in dan jurggans thor run
that is just not one of the hammers abilities in the films
I have read very little of thor but from what i have read about him he is just stiff and boring, he has practically no personality, and even though i dont follow up some of the cartoons of Marvel the few times i have seen him in Avengers he is just soo serious and once again, boring, he talks so dramatically and even cliche and he just never smiles under any circumstance
coming from a none-fan of Thor, that is my perspective of Thor, just a very serious superhero that is very powerful, its like Batman, but without the Dark and with superpowers
and The in movies he is nothing like that, he acts more like a Viking, he seems to enjoy fighting and partying and he is just very very charismatic to even make the romance of the movie believable
mind you he was more charismatic in Thor than in the Avengers but thats mainly cause he barely talks in that movie, though he did act more serious but it was still the kind of seriousness that he shown in Thor.
he is actually something more like Ultimate Thor but without the hippie angle.
I would like to ask to fans of Thor, in case i might had missed something because as i said, i have read very little of thor, IF there is any comic of Thor in which he acts like in the Movie, where he is just joyful and brash and such and not just serious all the time
@arnoldoaad: Thor: The Mighty Avenger is one of my favourite Thor comics (even though its non-canon), because Thor shows a lot of personality and his fun, kind (and sometimes drunk) side.

No it's not up for grabs.
By swinging his hammer in a circle, Thor can open up portals that allow him to traverse space and time, shown as how he travels from Earth to Asgard and vice versa, from Journey Into Mystery #103.
Thor's hammer transcends both space and time, from Thor #393.
Here, he sends the Masters of Evil through a space warp in Avengers #7.
Thor can also transport large objects. Here, he teleports an entire nuclear power plant away and its foundations to a dead world in Thor #393.
Thor can appear in the universe or entire dimensions WITHIN MOMENTS, from Fantastic Four #339.
and Thor #166.
Mjolnir's teleportive range is also virtually limitless. Here, he transports the possessed Warriors Three from the edge of the universe back to Asgard in Thor #185.
And if that's a little vague, the narration here specifically tells us Thor teleports millions of light years away, from Fantastic Four #338.
Mjolnir can also teleport between dimensions. Here, Thor sends innocent bystanders to Limbo to fight Durok the Demolisher alone in Thor #192.
While traveling at "a speed that is far greater than light," mjolnir creates a infinity vortex that teleports Kang the Conquerer and his time machine to a location outside time, from Thor #140.
Mjolnir could also transport several people to several different locations simultaneously, from Avengers #70.
Here he travels to Dormammu's Dark Dimension in Thor Annual #9.
Here, Mjolnir opens up a portal to the Negative Zone in Avengers #309.
Thor teleports the Destroyer Armor light years away(after Thor nearly gets killed by it), from Thor vol. 2 #2.

so why is it stupid?
It was stupid because Thor didn't have that power.
@arnoldoaad said:
so, your only complain is that he is underpowered
so what, I think the personality should be more important than the powerset
Personality and powerset are equally important about a character.
It doesn't matter if Superman believes that all of humanity deserves a chance to grow, or that he will save people because those with the power to do good simply must. If he his only power is super strength, then what good is his personality? Here's a hint: It isn't.
It was stupid because Thor didn't have that power.
no, it would be stupid if he had the power in the movie and he didnt use it

even if that was true
and is not, At All
that would be only based only on his powerset in the movies, Im sorry but the idea that Thor didnt had the power to cross dimension wasnt at all detrimental in the moveis
and in fact it is a very very important plot point for both Thor and the Avengers that crossing dimensions very hard to do
Personally? I LOVED Thor in the movies. From the personality to the Kirby-styled costume and Asgard.
Do I mind that he was under-powered compared to how he is in the comics? Not REALLY. I mean, yes Thor is my top favorite Marvel hero, but that's like expecting to see The Hulk go World Breaker in the movies, we're probably not going to see it.
Besides it's well known Thor holds back his full strength to make things more sporting when facing mortal foes and we got to see him show off his lightning a lot in The Avengers during that one scene. Also, Thor: The Dark World will be set within the Asgardian realms so it'll be a chance to see Thor cut loose and go all out.
@arnoldoaad: Against normal villains yes, but most of Thor's major enemies are either on or sometimes ABOVE what he's capable of and can give him some epic fights worthy of many a heavy metal ballad!!!
