We've got a lot of Marvel movie news today. First up, some new developments on Thor: The Dark World. If you've been following the news on the Thor: The Dark World's film production you likely caught a hint or two about the fact that this time around we won't just be seeing Thor on Asgard, but we may very well be dealing with all nine realms. And now that the synopsis to the film has been leaked, we have some proof. Based on the information provided, Thor: The Dark World will indeed cover all nine realms as the character travels to restore balance to the cosmos by fighting off a "shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself."

Marvel's "Thor: The Dark World" continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel's "Thor" and "Marvel's The Avengers," Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos ... but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

It appears that old faces and a few new ones will be joining Thor on the big screen -- most notably (according to the synopsis) -- Malekith. In the comics, Malekith is considered the "accursed" ruler of the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim. Could that mean that the Dark Elves will make a prominent appearance in the upcoming film? It sure appears that way according to the synopsis. In the comics, Malekith proved to be both an enemy of Asgard and of Earth, and on more than one occasion he sought the destruction of both. Additionally, we have seen him team up with Loki in the past; and considering the character was a big part of both the first Thor move as well as The Avengers, it's likely we will be seeing a team-up between he and Malekith in the upcoming sequel. What do you think of the idea of bringing Malekith and the Dark Elves into the story? Does this sound like a good vision for the film? Are you excited?

The role of Thor will be played by actor Chris Hemsworth who will be joined by Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Anthony Hopkins as Odin and many others. The film is being directed by Alan Taylor and is Produced by Kevin Feige. Thor: The Dark World will hit theaters on November, 8th 2013.

I was hoping for a different villain but I'm sure they can make Malekith interesting.

Hopefully they will have a good balance of space stuff/earth stuff.

Loved the first one even though it's cheesey pieces were a bit much.

I'm wondering, Malekith doesn't predate the universe itself (as far as I know), so perhaps he is to be the herald of Surtur or somebody of that nature. Don't know about Eccleston but we shall have to wait and see.

This will be awesome. I have too much faith in Marvel studios to doubt their decisions anymore.

As much as i love Loki in these films, i don't really wanna see him as the villain or one of the villains in this movie.

could the shadowy figure be thanos pulling strings leading into gotg or dat going to the well once to many ? i hope it is surtur to be honest think it work make a more interesting film

Not happy about Jane Foster returning, I didn't care for her in the first movie and was hoping they'd focus more on Sif's relationship with Thor this time around.

I want to see the Enchantress

Can't wait!! I thought the first movie was okay at best, however I do enjoy watching it from time to time. I'm itching to see the second film of Thor!

I was surprised to hear Loki would be a villain AGAIN, he's not a bad actor but I think he's been the weakest casting of the overall avengers film series, part of it is the writing but he doesn't pull off menacing or charismatic as a villain.

Dormmamu maybe? Would explain the supposed Dr. Strange cameo...

Here's hoping for Kurse and/or Surtur

I just hope they manage to keep the incredible level of artistry which pretty much had me enthralled throughout most of the first movie.

I'd like:
 - Hercules as a sidekick 
- or a simple cameo rejecting to help (ala Wolvie in X-Men Origins); 
- or maybe Thor flies to Olympus and no one wants to help and Hercules the demi-god is too drunk, then Thor shakes his head and asks if the concubines have any superpowers...

I am expecting Surtur to show up or at the very least be implied to be the villian for the 3rd Thor film. He's GOT to show up somewhere!

Absolutely psyched that we'll see Malekith and the Dark Elves and the 9 Realms of Ygdrassil. But what I'm more intrigued by this "shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself." Curiouser and curiouser...

Malekith?! Enormous nergasm, that's great. And I hope Surtur is behind him. This could be really good.

Hopefully this will be as good as the first one. It's my second most anticipated film after Man of Steel though.

I bet Natalie Portman was pissed Avengers turned out to be such a success. She better step her game up this time around if she wants a role in Avengers 2. Anyway I hope the introduction of Malekith hints towards Surtur hitting the big screen. Well most likely Surtur will be a teaser character at the end of this movie...i hope.

Jane Foster why? I have nothing against Nathalie Portman , but that love relationship was forced in my oppinion . Why does Thor want to be with a mere mortal , just why ? Doesen't he have godesses in his own world? Jane Foster is just a boring character to begin with and serves NOTHING of intrest for me atleast:P.

Anyway i`m pretty sure this movie will be better then the first one :D

Signed on to a 3 movie deal (For Thor films), claimed the real reason she did it was to work with Kenneth Branagh, applauded Avengers but did not want to be in it, many fans did NOT want her to be in it... not to mention she was pregnant at the time... and some how you think she's sitting around being bitter?

Sure thing... the critically acclaimed actress from The Professional and Black Swan swimming around in her Star Wars prequels money so very badly needs her game 'stepped up'. Absolutely.

I almost didn't even like the first Thor. Comic Fanboyism kept me on this side of "like" but just barely. The second one sounds more like what Thor is capable of: cosmic scale. S/N Where the f*** is Hulk in all this?! I'm pissed now.

Its good to know Loki is back for the sequel.He was by far the most interesting charactor in both Thor and the Avengers and Tom Hiddleston gives a very nuanced,complex and understated performance in both.In many ways I preferred Thor 1 to the Avengers which seemed a little cluttered and overburdened with charactors at times. Loki has an interesting story arc in mythology and in the comic books and I much prefer villains who have inteligence and subtlety -big physically aggressive villains just fail to hold my interest.I have my reservations re the new director and was concerened that with Ken departing THOR might loose some of its heart and just become another super hero blockbuster.I am not all that fussed about superhero films as they always seem too be very two dimensional but THOR actualy change my perspective and made me take a second look.This sounds a bit like Lord of the Rings which works for me.I did find the romance in THOR 1 a bit lame but that and the scenes involving Loki's parantage did provide some balance which give the films wider appeal for those of us who get bored easily with wham bam fight scenes.
