Walking Dead is 100, We Can Hope For A Happy Ending Right? WRONG!
This is it! The moment we all have been waiting for, the 100th issue of the Walking Dead is finally here! After 99 issues you would think Writer Robert Kirkman would have hinted to a possible ending of the Zombie outbreak, however if you have read this 100th issue, things are only going to get worse. Artist Charlie Adlard and Cliff Rathburn join Kirkman on this adventure.
The Good
For 100 issues we have been through all the good, the bad and the worse times with the main characters of The Walking Dead. Though we always bite our tongue and hope that Rick and his friends/family will live to see another sun set. With this 100th issue, we see that Robert Kirkman is in fact continuing the tear felt moments and the "WHY DID YOU DO THAT?!" moments as well.
From the beginning of issue 93, we have seen that Rick and his group of survivors are joining a new community that seems extremely safe. While all Rick has to do is protect the community, a crazy band of survivors lead by a man named, Negan, thinks Rick's groups are chumps compared to his. Kirkman has really done an outstanding job with this series, especially with the story arcs that lead up to the 100th issue. He really kept readers on the edge of their seat making readers assume that Rick would be able to overcome Negan and his survivors. However, we should've learned by now that Kirkman likes to pull the seat out from under us and surprise us with the unspeakable! That is what he did in this issue with the plot twist that was super unexpected was the death of Glenn.
The artwork by Adlard and Rathburn are really great. The simple black and white colors really capture how the survivors naturally see their world. Nothing is ever black and white in this New World, but they continue to find something to remember from the past to keep on going through hard times. Adlard and Rathburn really capture the dramatic and unexpected events of this issue.
The Bad
Nothing to talk about, this is one of the best issues.
Verdict
If you haven't been reading the Walking Dead in a while, then you need to pick up issues 93 all the way leading up to this one issue. You will not regret it!
