    Rick Grimes, Sheriff of a small town in Kentucky awakes in a hospital. Comatose after being shot while on duty, Rick finds the world abandoned of all things living and is faced with walking undead, who attack him on sight. He returns home to find his family, son Carl and wife Lori, gone. He meets his new neighbor, who points him towards Atlanta. After retrieving supplies from the abandoned Police Station, Rick sets off to Atlanta to search for his family.

    This is fast becoming one of my favourite titles, and I just had to check out the opener - So, the first installment of what is to become (if it isn`t already) a classic horror comic series... Injured in the line of duty, policeman Rick Grimes wakes in a deserted hospital - deserted of the living, that is - after a near escape from a canteen full of zombies, Rick cycles home.     If you do not read this series there  is something seriously wrong with you. this series is not your typical zombie let me eat your brains all out blood and gore. It is a character driven book and throughout the series there are many charaters that come and go and you will be upset when one of your favorite characters dies.     The Walking Dead is one of the best on-going survival horror comics I've read. Not often is the concept of a long term zombie out-break explored such as in Walking Dead. One valid complaint throughout the series could be an imbalanced zombie to character development ratio, but sometimes the sweet carnage of the undead comes second to our group of survivors.  The premiere issue starts similarly to the film 28 Days Later (this is merely coincidence, as both titles were being written around the sam...
